Rivian R1S SUV Promises To Go Anywhere On Electricity: Comments
Wife has spent time reading the web site for Rivian and while not a total fan of the Emoji front end, loves the rest of the truck especially the storage section with the doors acting as steps to also get into the bed. She loves the interior and says she would be happy with this as a daily driver and for allowing her to do her gardening and runs to Home Depot. Between now and production, be interesting to see what else comes out.

GM News: Ms. Barra Goes to Washington
So true, companies have to respond to stay alive and while people might not like it, it is not the governments role to force companies to keep jobs alive. It is their role to diversify the economy and look at ways to improve the overall quality of life in the city that they are responsible for with the basics of security, fire, medical, roads, schools. Make it a inviting multi-cultural place that is desirable to live with benefits for companies to setup shop and you can forget worrying about one company destroying the city. I remember when Seattle in the mid 70's had signs all over that said, last person leaving turn off the lights during the big downturn in Boeing and Weyerhaeuser lumber. Pretty much until Microsoft opened and John Fluke expanded, those two companies is what most worked for and when the jobs / layoffs started, plenty of people lost homes and were scared about providing for their families. I can understand and relate to it as my dad went through it and I remember my mom going to the food bank. It was rough, but we survived and dad started his own business repairing cars much cheaper than the local mechanics charged.

Totally agree with you, GM made some awesome drum brakes on their massive size cars in the 60's and 70's. Driving the big Olds 98 station wagons and slamming on the brakes always had a confidence that I would stop. Try driving fast on an Asian auto from that time and slamming on the brakes and sliding away you go. Sexy as hell!

Thanks for Posting it @A Horse With No Name This is an outstanding 6 month review by this guy and he clearly hits on many of the points we debate here about EV or ICE, Range anxiety, etc. Have to say he makes some very valid points for EV ownership and also why you would not want it. Reality, EVs are expensive yet he also points out the price is the same 7 years later but double the performance, battery range, etc. Especially compared to a maxed out base Honda civic priced the same the Leaf is far more fun to drive and better feature functions over the civic. Have to say, I think this is a very balanced and decent review.

Samsung Confirms Galaxy S10 and other Phones.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2018/12/04/samsung-galaxy-s10-5g-release-date-price-cost-verizon-att-upgrade/#2e285b67573c One has to wonder if the story about internal employees selling the new foldable display tech to Chinese companies has forced Samsung to speed up the release of info about their new 10 series of phones. Four models, siz cameras, massive displays and gradient colour schemes with 5G as confirmed by Verizon and AT&T, new fold-able phone makes this coming 2019 CES show exciting. The galaxy X is very exciting indeed, if you have not seen the developers show where they showed a masked version of the phone as they wanted to show off their screen, this is very cool tech. You get to see the real phone starting at 1:38, Such a cool phone.

Totally agree, it is nicer and yet also still blah enough to just fad into the background. I truly wonder if Suzuki was still selling here if this would move enough to be noticeable? ?♂️

You must not live in an area that has money to burn and engineers that are more excited about the new faster tech and cars than old stuff. New money is all made on the west coast I guess, static quo on the east coast then? ?♂️

Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Reveals 2020 Silverado HD and Its Massive Grille
I would think that in regards to the Rivian Pickup, the 400 mile battery pack would probably drop to 250 to 300 miles when in snow plowing mode. I think it would be not much different than ICE in that regards except that when the auto is not moving it is not using any juice, so maybe a bit longer on the battery power.
