  1. Found a Story about a EV startup that started in 1992 but never made it out of 1992. Very interesting off set seating configuration. Bertone Blitz 1430 lbs curb weight 72 hp electric motors 0-60 in 6 seconds.
  2. OUCH, Guess even the Mercedes-benz 6x6 is stopped by enough snow.
  3. Seems a German man has decided that Range Rover needs a Superyacht owner vehicle and is going to build one as the Range Rover 6x6. This would definitly be above the standard maxed out Range Rover. Theodoros Fotiadis, a Berlin-based German designer has started work on the ultimate ride for the Superyacht owner. There is no other information at this time in regards to powertrain, details about the ability of the 6x6 system. It seems he is inspired by the Mercedes-benz 6x6 auto that was built. 4. Toshiba batteries are going into commercial busses and cars that will be out in 2019 as 2020 models. XFS chargers are getting installed now and the install base will grow. For those that haul trailers and need miles, you have ICE Diesel trucks to do the job or SUV's. In time it will change as you say. Let's also point out that they traveled only at 55 mph per the state regulations for trailer towing at 55 mph. We both know that most do not stay to that and pull much faster so time would be reduced of getting to destination and yes faster you go more drage, etc. etc. etc.. You stated you make your 220 mile trip in 3.5hrs, so then your pulling a trailer at 62.85 mph average. The Tesla could do that too. We will always have the chicken or egg issue and right now we have the start of a change over. I agree that EV's are not for everyone and for long road trips at this time, I would take an ICE over an EV as I like to drive about 500-600 miles a day. For around town, for 90% of most people's needs, they can get along just fine with an EV auto that has a 200-300 mile battery pack and plug in at night.
  5. Makes total sense since keeping the bad emission part is so much more difficult in the diesel car. Sadly cost of the powertrain are outweighing the gas mileage benefits.
  6. Charging is the crutch that many will point at and yet with XFS, that becomes a mute point. Reality, ICE trucks in the beginning of the 1900's COULD NOT do the trip you mention either and good luck finding the convenience of fueling stations in those early days. EV's are where ICE was in regards to fueling, not enough charging spots and the Xtreme Fast Charging is only just now beginning to get installed that will address the time to Fuel. I have posted that the breakthroughs in Battery tech have come and are only now going into production. As posted in the alternative fuel forum, Toshiba has a 200 mile battery pack that charges in 6 min and a 400 mile battery pack that charges in 12 min using XFS chargers. Matter of time, Matter of time. Early adopters of course will always deal with what the masses will not accept. Yet technology will come and change the approach to how we travel, how we move product, items, etc. We are in the beginning of the EV auto industry. On top of this, If Tesla had offered a 200 kWh or 300 kWh battery pack that would give you 500 miles of range without stopping to charge, this would not even be an issue and we all know that. We know battery costs are coming down, longer rang is coming as is extreme fast charging to address the fueling time. End result, for now Diesel trucks are where we need to be to haul items long distances, but in time even that will be replaced as we move the EV tech forward.
  7. Continue to ignore the future at your own peril. LIke a Caboose train employee, you will find yourself left in a field devoid of any purpose. You know the future is Hybrid / EV and China is calling the shots.
  8. Idiots on the Pass today, 2nd weekend in a row of 24" powder dumps and this moron shows up in his FWD Audi with no chains and gets stuck. Resort folks used their F150 4x4 and pulled him out.
  9. Some very cool and exciting changes coming. I agree with the last gen of ICE engines as you can use them for a long time and enhance via electrification.
  10. Most of these will probably never get used for what they were engineered for and instead be a conversation piece in some rich guys collection.
  11. I think Kia is smart to not go into the full size pickup truck war as well as the a-class subcompact market. Performance is always desirable by all fans so taking their existing products and offering a performance version of some would be a smart move.
  12. My 1952 house 2000 sqft with 2 car garage, 3 bedrooms, 1 office, 1 3/4 bath on .3 acre lot. Bought in 1999 at $140,000, now valued at $452,800 by the county for tax purposes, $4,300 a year in property tax, but local realtors say it can sell for between $550,000 and $600,000. Washington housing market is crazy! 223% percent increase in 19 years. Crazy
  13. Diesel is the winner winner chicken dinner engine here. Bet the stupid 2.0L turbo with 232 HP will have like 190 lb-ft of torque. Take the diesel over the gas in this product.
  14. WOW, Thanks for the update, I do agree with you about old homes having the best bones. 1240 sqft is the average size of Apartments in the greater seattle area for a 2 bedroom. Average home size is between 2000 to 3000 sqft here. My house was built in 1952, beams are all over kill in size needed, siding on the house is 12 inch nottless cedar siding, very traditional split level 3 bedroom plus office home. So what is the real sales tax when you figure in city sales tax on top of that? Washington state has 6% but with all the other state / county sales tax average is 10% here on everything. $11,300 is more than double my property tax. I would agree with you that would push me out of that bedroom state to NY. WOW As I stated in my reply to balthazar, 1240 is the average for a 2 bedroom apartment here, 1 bedroom run about 900 sqft. avereage homes here are from 2000 to 3000 sqft not including the 2 car garage. Washington state has the same thing for retires, set property tax level so that seniors do not get pushed out from their home.
  15. WOW What a dump, looks like it is ready to be demolished and a new modern house built. Knowing NJ to have crazy Sales tax, Income tax and property tax I bet the Property tax on the house is between 15-20K. Crazy
  16. I take mine in GM Metallic Maroon!
  17. @balthazar @Cubical-aka-Moltar So here is the hidden XT4 dash versus the current XT5 dash. Some differences. I am thinking that they might be able to make a modest change to the existing dash to fit in the new CUE system and the buttons. XT5 Dash XT4 Dash
  18. Nice Read on the ZR2 Pickup from Chevy. http://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/18677/2018-chevrolet-colorado-zr2-review-in-vermont-tonka-truck-for-big-kids-gets-the-green-mountain-test Learned allot about the truck and the benefits it has over the Raptor. White house seems to like the Oregon / Washington way of a miles tax rather than a fuel tax. http://www.thedrive.com/news/18705/white-house-praises-per-mile-vehicle-taxes-for-infrastructure-funding
  19. Weird as I see plenty of domestic CUV/SUVs with EV versions.
  20. Your missing the point, you get the shove at higher gears at higher speeds, it is NOT about starting from zero. Torque gives you that push at higher gears and speed if the motor is built to support torque through the whole rpm band. Too many of the High Revving DOHC engines spin and produce HP but no Torque and as such you get minimal performance boost. HP helps maintain that high speed but to accelerate fast, you need more torque.
  21. Very Cool, I like that it has the Escalade type rear tail lights and the front, over all not bad. The dash from what is visible is exciting to see the change, hopefully it will get rolled out sooner rather than later into all products as they refresh the dash.
  22. It takes more work and talent to build a Pushrod that has a solid strong torque equal to HP from zero to redline and yet when you have an engine built that way, the cauto does push you back into your seat as you move ahead of a person with less torque but more HP as they are able to sustain but cannot overcome the basic inertia that resists. Sadly people have taken the focus of heavier OHC engines and gone with being a part replacement person than one that actually does the math on building an engine that has the right crank, pistons, etc. in building an engine that can and does win every day of the week. You have probably felt from off the line or when in someones car in the first couple gears that push in the gut as the auto accelerates with torque pushing it along. It can also be achieved in the upper gears and is a rush when your doing 100+ and you step on it and the wheels break free due to torque and you get the gut punch from the torque pushing you faster than competitor B next to you. This is why EV motors with their constant torque from zero and above just move. ICE engines can be made this same way but it take talent and a deep understanding of the whole engine build process to achieve this. My custom 402 is built this way and truly moves even at high speed I can break the tires free though for a second before they reconnect. I have not seen this capability in the DOHC engines with high hp, low torque break free the tires in 4th, 5th, 6th gear. That torque can motivate the auto to jump ahead of the competitor when racing and get an edge. That is why I am not impressed with the low torque engines built in Europe or Asia or even in America, Since most driving is not racing anyway, this also gets applied to daily drivers where they should have a torque monster over high HP for moving around in local streets and highway system. I take a NA V6 with 300 lb-ft of torque and 200hp over a 300HP 267 lb-ft of torque turbo motor or DOHC application.
  23. I understand that but I think many more would have been destroyed if GM had not gone the Bankrupt route and I think Ford would be way off better than they are now. Chrysler Co was the mistake letting an idiot company like Fiat buy them.
  24. Love the New SUV Look, looks proper now rather than the old Jellybean look. Interior is not bad either. Thumbs up for them on this, big improvement.
