  1. I agree it is really weird about the CVT. My own bad experiences with them will always make me pass on a CVT. Traditional gear tranny or EV is for me.
  2. Would be Cool to have an Escalade ESV 7500 CC Motor! course 7.5 L is good too.
  3. Totally agree with you that blind spot monitoring I can do without unless it is part of a package of other features I want also. Dual mirrors and shoulder checks more than cover the proper driving skill.
  4. I grew up with my dad always reminding me that every dog has its day. He also reminded me that if your neighbors have jobs, as do I then things are pretty solid. Buy American first when you can to support the local companies, jobs and keep the profits here, then when needed go outside the country. As we all know, many things we have no choice but to buy Asian or European on based on them being the only source for the products. I have stayed true to this with buying American auto's only. Yes, many components are from around the world, but the companies at least are headquartered here, engineering is done mostly here and the profits stay here. My first auto out of college was a Ford 1991 Escort GT. Awesome car, rock solid and a blast to drive and I would probably still have it if it was not for a commercial truck not paying attention on the freeway and rear ending my wife and totaling it. I have tried to buy ford multiple times and did help a friend buy a family sedan, the Ford Contour which she had for a long time before letting her son take it to college where it got trashed and then totaled. Since then the only other auto's I have had that are not GM is Jeep Wrangler, 1993 and Jeep Grand Cherokee 1995. Since then, I have stayed GM for now, but will be looking around and comparing when I do end up buying my next auto. Interesting story, America's Longest lasting Auto's on MSN. Quoted from the story, interesting consistency here! Here are the 10 longest-lasting vehicles along with the percentage of each that have clocked more than 200,000 miles. The average percentage of all vehicles lasting longer than 200,000 miles is 1.2%. Toyota Sequoia: 6.6% Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) Expedition: 5.4% General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) Chevrolet Suburban: 5.2% Toyota 4Runner: 4.2% GMC Yukon XL: 3.9% Chevrolet Tahoe: 3.8% GMC Yukon: 2.8% Toyota Tacoma: 2.6% Toyota Avalon: 2.4% Honda Motor Co. Ltd. (NYSE: HMC) Odyssey: 2.4% The list of longest-lasting luxury vehicles was led by GM's Cadillac with the Escalade ESV and the Escalade both lasting 1.6% longer than the 1.2% average for all vehicles. Interesting that the Germans have no Luxury auto's on the lists. American and Asian plus Volvo. iseecars original story
  5. I think everyone is on the same page, but have to totally disagree with you on the Envision. It is anything but a turd / crap vehicle. My sisters that I helped her buy is rock solid and been far more reliable than the craptastic Mazda CX Turds that are terrible for interior space and underpowered which is from actual use of their auto's. From the 3 to the 9 unimpressed with the interiors compared to the Envision. Mazda is a sewing machine noisy box compared to the Buick. Front seats in the Mazda are terrible if your a big person and the back is no picnic either compared to the buick where you can have a 6'6" tall person in the front and still have another person that big in the back and not hit the seats back with your knees or the roof with your head. So please tell me why you think the Envision is a Turd?
  6. Depending on the next 18-24 months, GM could push me into another brand depending on what they do with correcting the garbage group packages and how fast they get their butts moving to bring out variety of CUV/SUVs for certain brands with certain power trains. I honestly do not know why in the last 12 -18 months we have seen such a reversal at GM. They were doing really well and surprised everyone with the BOLT and now they are just letting everyone pass them up again and offering / forcing packages on people that they do not want just to get certain other features. I totally get what everyone is saying here and I think more rather than less people are wishing they could a la carte their auto's. @balthazar Has the best Idea of growing Cadillac back into the luxury leader of the world, make the complete product line a la carte options with just a couple packages for those that want it all.
  7. Out running errands, saw a 90's full size 2 door ford bronco just like the one OJ Drove on 405 in the slow speed chase. I really wish they would bring back a full size like this with 2 doors. I just think there is a bigger group of customers being ignored by everything being 4 door SUV. At least build it with mini suicide doors for rear access but the over all size is still smaller than a 4 door expedition or tahoe.
  8. Having been one to grow up and build racers and track, as I have gotten older, the few times I had access to either take my SS or borrow a V and go to the track, It never worked out and as such, I have to VOTE USED. I agree with @oldshurst442 to put the extra towards the CT6 V Sport or whatever surprise we get out of Cadillac in the next 24 months of Performance Pleasure. Maybe that V edition Escalade we keep hearing rumors about!
  9. Idaho Dually with trailer having purchased two new Lexus from the dealership around the corner today. They had the Washington 3 day temp paperwork on the auto windows for transport. Guess some like overpriced mid luxury auto's.
  10. I would love to see the english translated version of the staff memo they mention but do not quote about why the police are wrong on the powertrain head. Very interesting to see how this affects them. In regards to the picture above, I have to say for a Porsche, the blue is a nice color, but I hate that black plastic piece around the tailpipe area.
  11. So your saying the merge is gonna give us Total Recall like EV's? LOL
  12. You just wish, as a person that can buy anything I want, I spend far more time in auto's than most and my review and feeling on turbo 4's as well as other newer auto's is what it is. If I hate something, I will say it, BIASED is saying you know how another is thinking and should feel about newer auto's. Your not me and my impression of driving and using new auto's is my impression compared to the various other auto's I own. Enjoy your Turbo 4's. I will wait for superior EV auto's than spend my coin on another ICE auto that really does not have enough quality gains to justify it's price.
  13. I respect what you are saying, I have to go based on my own experience of driving these auto's and so far my personal experience is what it is.
  14. I will say that right now, the comfort in the latest Escalade seats does not compare to my 2006 Escalade ESV Platinum. Thin seats are questionable for comfort. Road noise, tires play a big part and I understand the chart you posted for Sound DB, but having new Escalades to drive when I get service, it is really hard to justify spending another 100K on an SUV where the seats are not that comfy and noise level is not really any different.
  15. Nope for local driving she loves the Trailblazer SS and for Road trips, you cannot get more comfortable and quiet than an Escalade.
  16. I agree that while I am not a fan of hood ornaments, I do love a good quality hood medallion. I hope they do make a come back, but I have to wonder if they will due to EV auto's. Course it could be set into the hood so it flows smoothly. A quality Hood Medallion would be awesome to have.
  17. One, the wife likes things silent, so noises that irritate her end up being taken out on me the husband. Put yourself in my shoes, the turbo noises wear on you then when the wife is not happy. For me, I like a tuned tail pipe, but many of the Turbo engines are noisy and that does when you like to go for long drives becomes very wearing on you. As much as I love cadillacs, the ATS Turbo 4 loaner I had from them when they serviced my SS I took for a long drive and while it handles really well and on a fun windy road you get great performance, the noise from the engine tends to drone and becoming tiring. Just like some people are sensitive to 60 Hz fluorescent light flicker, I hear all the noises in an auto. Some I like others, just wear on you. Turbo's are one that wear on me.
  18. @ocnblu Here is a low cost SUV option for you.
  19. Tesla Model 3 Tear Down! Sandy Munro of Munro & Associates is an engineer who specializes in digging into the details of products. He especially is focused on EVs to make sure they are safe, well built and more. The video's below are very interesting to watch, especially the Teardown one where he clearly says some parts are garbage, some are competitive parts and some are worthy of Government required quality built for long life. The guy seems to know his stuff and it is worth time if you are interested in the nuts and bolts of how a Tesla 3 is built to watch. 20. Considering this was out if memory serves me right before the Turbo V6 was available, I would not be surprised to see a turbo show up in the XT5 for the new model year.
  21. Driven them in fords, Chevy, Cadillac. The only turbo 4 that I like and seems to do well is the Buick Envision. Even then, if I could I would still take an NA V6 over it in the Buick too. I will also say that in thinking on this, I am not a fan of the excessive carbon soot you see out of the tail pipes on Turbos compared to NA engines.
  22. Very cool how well these handle in the snow.
  23. Seems Mercedes-Benz Maybach SUV photo's leaked in China and while some in China are saying Daring and beautiful, I have to say GROSS! https://jalopnik.com/the-vision-mercedes-maybach-ultimate-luxury-suv-is-way-1825413827
