  1. Interesting, the autocar link is no good and searching their site seems to have pulled their own story, but here are a few more links covering this too. https://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/the-porsche-cayenne-coup-has-finally-been-confirmed-ar181451.html http://www.thedrive.com/news/21409/porsche-cayenne-coupe-reportedly-confirmed-for-2019 https://www.topspeed.com/cars/porsche/2019-porsche-cayenne-coupe-ar163949.html Weird in rereading all the links above, I see they all quote the same Autocar report that is now pulled from the web site. Wonder what is going on with the story? ?
  2. @ccap41 @Cubical-aka-Moltar Yes Ram's eTorque system is their 48 volt hybrid system based on all my reading at other sites and from FCA own news releases. http://media.fcanorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?id=18753&fIId=18758 Or if you cannot get to the website here is the PDF version to read. 2019_Ram_1500_-_Powertrain.pdf Comparison including pricing by FCA against Ford and Chevy. http://media.fcanorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?id=18914 Like Bill wrote in the story, people are going to the Dealerships and asking for the Hybrid truck. One would think if you announce it, state you are building and shipping the trucks that they would show up on the lots then.
  3. @balthazar This is getting some service work done at the shop I have used in the past. Saw it and thought of you.
  4. A little bit different as when Ford and GM announce they are building their 2019 products and shipping them they actually do. FCA announces building and the start of shipping and then very little has actually shown up. FCA might need to get a bit more control on actual delivery. Tesla approach does not work for them.
  5. I would totally disagree with you. Escalades have always been very quiet and the cadillac Magneride system makes it very smooth and comfy. The pacifica is very quiet but the Escalade is another level all together. Plenty of miles driving Escalades to know that they are a very comfortable roomy roadtrip auto. Here you are wrong, I believe the interior measurements and then the butt in the seat test and in this case, measurements are true for the Pacifica being bigger interior than the Escalade in the second and 3rd row. Front row, Minivans have always suffered as you have that bullet nose along with the interior design of the front footwell area that is cramped compared to a full size SUV. Especially for a large guy, I will say that the comfort of an Escalade in the front driving is a big difference over a Minivan. Pacifica is the roomiest by far in comparison to Honda or Toyota and especially Kia. Yet with that said, for me when sitting on the seat in the drivers position or the front passengers position, I do not feel as comfortable / leg roomy as I do in an Escalade. My opinion on that, but that is how I feel when I sit in one compared to another.
  6. I have to think that the lack of modern powertrains along with a mild 48 volt hybrid system that is vaporware right now is hurting them more than helping them. They should have held off till they had the hybrid system worked out before talking about it.
  7. I hear ya, will have to go out and test drive a pacifica as the last minivan I was in was fine for commuting but would not want to be in it for 18hrs. This could also have to do with the sto n go seats as they are very thin and hard IMHO. I think even the current Escalade has lost some comfort in going to the thin seats.
  8. Growing up in a large family with vans and station wagons I get where you are coming from. But then as times change and one has ability to buy a luxury SUV for road trips, one's view changes. They both have their place, my life style and what I do I could not do in a minivan. Yet with my full size SUV's I can go places that I prefer and that includes off road. Doing 3-4 yearly road trips, I will take my Escalade on an 18hr road trip over a Pacifica or any other van, minivan. Comfort cannot be beat to me.
  9. LOL, cracking jokes already on a monday. I know the minivans have more interior space for storage. Yet with that said, you are looking at two different kinds of comfort for road trips. kids versus adult and what people want and need changes as you get older or based on how you were raised.
  10. This is such a cool Concept auto. Lancia Stratos http://www.automobilemag.com/news/lancia-stratos-zero-concept-by-design/
  11. Cool video at GM of their 3D printing research they are doing to reduce weight in their new auto's. http://www.thedrive.com/tech/20686/gm-explains-its-plans-for-3d-printing-better-car-parts?iid=sr-link1 New Testing shows even Euro 6 diesel emissions are still not being met especially by German Diesel auto's which are polluting 6 times more than the spec they are supposed to meet. http://www.thedrive.com/news/21407/new-emissions-tests-show-almost-all-new-diesels-still-dirty This brings up the question, is it time to kill Diesel all together?
  12. 850 miles, 26 gallons on Ford F-150 Diesel V6 Pickup. http://www.thedrive.com/new-cars/21396/2018-ford-f-150-diesel-truck-review-how-does-850-miles-of-range-on-a-tank-sound Good read. Drive from LA to San Francisco and back on a single tank of fuel. WOW Makes one wonder what GM and Rams Diesel pickups will do. 1969 Camaro Pace car given a modern restoration. http://www.thedrive.com/video/21383/1969-camaro-pace-car-correcting-a-restomod-gone-wrong Amazing Video to watch of how they kept the original 69 look and feel but took the car into the 21st century.
  13. Honda and GM have partnered up to develop the next generation of high density extreme fast charging battery packs. Honda and GM have already partnered on Hydrogen cell and motor technology development. Now they sign a multiyear agreement to develop batteries for the next generation of auto's. To quote the news release: "General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) and Honda (NYSE: HMC) announced an agreement for new advanced chemistry battery components, including the cell and module, to accelerate both companies’ plans for all-electric vehicles. The next-generation battery will deliver higher energy density, smaller packaging and faster charging capabilities for both companies’ future products, mainly for the North American market." http://www.gm.com/mol/m-2018-jun-0607-gm-honda-battery-cell.html
  14. Depends on how big the kids are. Tall kids I think would enjoy the slade better. At least mine did. My wife thought that at first till she drove one and found it to drive as easy as a car with a much better view of the road ahead while driving. Now she cannot think of ever being in a car again as they sit too low to the ground. I get it though, the Pacifica is a nice sweet ride, roomy and handles a family very well. Best out of the minivans I think.
  15. True, everyone does have their own preference and I am way past the kids stage now. But my adult kids do love riding in the Escalade for trips.
  16. Cool progress, thanks for the update. Keep going, ya gotta beat your brother!
  17. In that case the Pacifica gets better gas mileage while the Escalade has more comfort and interior room. Yet a 2 or 3 yr Lease return or what we call CPO is still pretty much a new car just discounted. Some amazing deals to be had for luxury CPOs.
  18. I see CPO Escalades are in the same price range as a new Pacifica price range of $29K to $43K.
  19. So Tie-con in a 402, 550 and 670 HP AWD ev versions. That is cool! This auto is way nicer looking than the Panamera they have.
  20. LOL ya never said I had to think about price. CPO Escalades are a bargain.
  21. Pics please, we love to see stuff like that.
  22. Not according to the other web sites. Seems to be a real product they are doing for select markets.
  23. If so, then a much better version as a mini wrangler than a Renegade. Either Way, I think it would sell well here if they ever decided to come back to the US market.
  24. Being this is a TRD offroad, I would still expect this kind of treatment. Looks way better than chrome.
