  1. RIVIAN Electric Adventure Vehicles WebSite This coming LA auto show we will be introduced to the world's first electric adventure vehicles. November 30th to December 9th at the LA Auto Show you will be able to see their Pickup Truck and SUV. The company's tagline is to explore the planet and charge deeper into the world farther and deeper than ever before by building electric vehicles that allow you to explore be it a big or small adventure. RIVIAN electric adventure vehicles will reimagine the truck and SUV with offering the following: Up to a 400+ mile range per charge Sub 3 seconds zero to 60 Superior capability on and off road RIVIAN has engineered their skateboard platform to handle the city or the summit, rain or shine by leveraging the laws of physics. To quote their website, expect superior handling on anything you might call a road with their Dynamic Roll Control. Superior Air Suspension to assist with getting over, around under, etcl the obstacles in the road. Final part of this is the smooth, quiet, impeccable manners, on road and off of the pure electric propulsion system. RIVIAN secured funding and took over the former Mitsubishi plant in Normal, Illinois where full production of their truck and SUV will begin in 2019 and rolling off the assembly line for sale by 2020. You can watch Bloomberg interview with the CEO and founder of RIVIAN here: RIVIAN CEO-Founder Interview R.J. Scaringe, founder and ceo is focused on the auto industry and Tesla by offering a product that is not offered by any other company. The interview brings up how EV companies have come and go and asks why they think they will survive and succeed where others have not. Very good interview. I like him much better than Musk. RIVIAN Truck Teaser RIVIAN SUV image from the video RIVIAN battery packs Rivian is also looking at additional ways to use their technology outside the auto industry and has stated they will have some exciting announcements in the near future of where you can find RIVIAN products. Based on watching the videos and going over their news section off their website, I would not be surprised to see home battery backup systems tied to solar or wind as well as the CEO says use in consumer electronics. The four arrows in their directional logo symbolize the values and behaviors that inform every decision they make. The two outer arrows express their mission to make the world a better place through innovation and adventure. The two inner arrows represent their core desire to be inspiring and inviting to all. Quote: This is more than a logo - it's our promise to always point you in the right direction.
  2. I can respect and understand that. Either GM will come out with a full size Electric SUV or my 1994 GMC Suburban SLE will be converted.
  3. By 2028 either I will have an EV Suburban one way or another!
  4. I will not buy anything else but an EV as my next new auto. Just waiting for the right options to come along.
  5. They could call it pián yi which is chinese for Cheap! ?
  6. Just detailed the SS, all ready for the winter. Now just have to do the Escalade.
  7. Totally agree with Robert, standard or king cab with big bed is not what the majority want or need. Jeep has this one right, bulk will be fully loaded 4 door trucks for families that want off road capabilities but needs more room to haul stuff. I can so see water tight canopy on the back on the rubicon trail enjoying time away from the cities.
  8. True, but even that maintenance of oil changes, brakes, etc. while small stuff is a bother for many. I do not expect @ocnblu or you to buy an EV, but I know plenty that want alternatives to Tesla, Nissan or GM for an EV and not have to deal with the ICE maintenance.
  9. Doubtful, as I expect a decent sales rate as more ev options enter the market. Society has become a consumable one that does not want to deal with maintenance. ICE has plenty of maintenance in comparison to EV and once people start to see the options of driving and the reduced cost to maintain ev's will leave the niche sector and enter the mainstream. More people than you know are waiting to buy.
  10. A beer served from an Asian beer babe would be nice! I do miss Japanese baseball, as the picture will speak for itself: And their beer gardens
  11. Recession is coming https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/crude-oils-collapse-sends-shock-waves-across-global-markets/ar-BBPHsju?li=BBnb7Kz
  12. Yup, GM had their 10 days of spotlight, Jeep has stolen it pre-release!
  13. Seems allot of them must have come off Lease as my local Caddy dealer has a ton of CPO. Interesting they are all around 18-28 thousand miles on what is clearly a 3yr lease car. Should be some great options for people who want a performance luxury sedan, wagon or coupe.
  14. @trinacriabob I loved the Movie Less than Zero. Awesome song, your right they did this song right!
  15. Very cool, I like the Rubicon in both hard top and convertible edition. Excited that the wheels are 33 inch off road. Tru-Lock electric front and rear axle lockers, trac-lok limited-slip diff and it seems it has the Power Wagon electronic sway-bat disconnect! Shipping with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Rubicon edition has optional Forward facing off-road camera system for ease of obstruction detection when on trail. Pictures look like they have a rear camera too under the Jeep Logo. Interesting notice, the 3.0 liter V6 EcoDiesel with ESS and 8sp auto trans will be available in 2020, guess as a 2021 model. Cool to see ESS on a Diesel. So you only get the 3.6 V6 Pentastar at launch on the 2020 models
  16. Hopefully Potus 45 will listen for once to the smarter people on his economic team. Tariffs are a bad idea.
  17. Your saying these cars are reported lost in the california fires? ?
  18. Always loved the look of the Aston cars, so happy they are doing an SUV. Very cool!
  19. That is very interesting, If the tariff's are that high would that not make this a $18,000 to $26,000 vehicle unless they build an assembly plant here. I will say if they take a page from Hyundai for 10yr / 100,000 mile warranty and go with a set price model like Saturn, they will find buyers here as many hate the negotiation portion of auto buying. The negotiation part is one of the reasons I think Costco auto buying process is so successful. Set pricing that allows dealerships to present an auto for sale and you accept it or not. Very simple, no stress buying.
  20. Easy, if we can send thousands of troops to the border, we can send thousands to help build containment around these fires. The national Guard and our military should be sent in as they do have training that can assist with building the fire lines that can help contain and put out these nature started fires.
  21. My Week has been this every minute awake or asleep!
  22. Interesting so the Kia Soul EV is still only an appliance (oops) compliance auto for markets where they have to sell an EV in order to sell their ICE auto's. Hmmmmm ? not really sure if that is a smart move today with so many other companies coming out with EVs.
  23. I tend to agree with what he says, we have first gen solid state batteries, but to make them in the density and quantity needed is a bit out. I expect most if not all EVs that come out between now and 2024 will be Lithium Ion and then by 2024 we will see some of the top line models have the solid state and by 2030, we will see solid state push into pretty much all autolines for EV use. The benefits of Solid state batteries will I think help OEMs to push to move to them sooner rather than later.
  24. GM's approach is an interesting one and one that is making me rethink if I leave them for some other brand. Be very interesting to see what happens with their large EV roll out.
  25. Sad that Japan and Europe get the updated PHEV and we have the old one. ? You would think if they are going to update the auto, then do it globally and send the new one here too, not release as new the old one that is behind the one across the pond. ?
