  1. OUCH Hydrogen fuel crunch, no go on the auto. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1117927_hydrogen-supply-shortage-leaves-fuel-cell-cars-gasping-in-california They are gasping for fuel.
  2. Seems Audi is going to show off their EV Supercar based on the R-18 E-Tron winner from the Le Mans race. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/07/30/audi-pb-18-e-tron-electric-supercar-concept/
  3. WOW ? Mercedes-Benz is to become 3 seperate companies. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/07/26/daimler-mercedes-restructuring-cars-trucks-mobility/ Or to more accuratly quote them: The company said it would set up three legally independent entities — Mercedes-Benz AG, Daimler Truck AG and Daimler Mobility AG, under the umbrella of Daimler AG. Kinda like how Alphabet has setup their legal entities under a single umbrella. Very software driven design they are doing.
  4. So a $100,000 EV auto with a 25% tariff charge so $125,000 auto. Thanks for nothing Potus, you really are screwing up the auto world. Excited for the 800V chargers to get installed. I hope other auto companies move to this charging level ASAP.
  5. We are fast approaching the next bear market, S&P is at 2.4 from a .7 in 2009 almost to the 2.7 market crash of 2007 already at the 2000 bear market of 2.4. We are in for a painful correction that is going to shock many and not much will be able to be done by the folks in DC to stop it. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-simple-reason-the-next-bear-market-will-be-more-painful-2018-06-20 Get ready to feel the Pain. WOW, LA, Yosemite and North California all on fire. https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/California-wildfires-Wall-Butte-where-burning-11277514.php
  6. With the 90,000 acre california fire that has forced the evacuation of Redding california and lose of life, there has been other casualties too besides the human, animal and building loss. Only 5% contained at this time and being pushed along with steady 30mph winds. Auto loss, Antique auto's part of a much larger collection that were stored for the Museum that rotates them are now lost. RIP
  7. Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, Loud Pipes cause DEATH, Hearing Loss and are driven by selfish individuals that can only think of themselves. Harley is a perfect example of a company that makes a product that should have never been allowed to skirt the rules to survive. Build a better product or die. The Noise DOES NOT save lives. I see more people hurt by the noise and freak out and almost hit the rider than helping them. There is a difference between a tuned exhaust pipe and loud hurtful noise. If you had truly spent any time test riding any of the electric bikes, you would see how much fun they are and their own unique sound they make.
  8. Auto-shows are very relevant if planned right. Detroit is their own fault for hosting it at a time of year that people do not want to go out in the weather for. Also, people want to do more than just look at an auto. Seattle auto-show has continued to grow due to innovation. Their is a place for little kids so that parents who want to compare, sit in and go back n forth between certain makes or models can do this while their kids are looked after. On top of this is the two drive options you have. One is a traditional drive onto the streets to see how the auto basically drives in real world traffic. Always popular for the car and truck crowd. Second one is the off-road obstacle course where one can see how an SUV/CUV/Truck handles. The guidance one gets on this is awesome. Today's Auto-show has to evolve into a family event with more than just a bunch of auto makes sitting on a show floor.
  9. Based on various web sites and even Tesla themselves, one is expected to believe that they have 400,000 plus reservations for the Tesla 3 car. Yet with an email received last night: It seems anyone can order a Tesla 3 and NO RESERVATION FEE is required. On top of this it states that you will get your car in 2-4 months. Yet others that paid their $1,000 dollar fee to save a place in line is being told they still have to wait in some cases till 2019. The autoweek story points out that at 5,000 cars built a week, Tesla can only produce 115,000 cars this year. So how is it that they have this many reservations? Could it be that the bulk of these are for the promised and still undelivered $35,000 RWD car? I have talked with a number of co-workers as there is a Tesla fan club at my place of employment and many of them have been waiting for being able to order their AWD Long range battery car. Many say they have been told they could place their order but it would be still towards the end of the year or as I have more commonly been told 2019 according to their system. So with the news talking about years till you get one and actual people saying they still have a long time to wait, how is Tesla offering what they are saying unless both the reservations and my co-workers are talk and no real action. One has to wonder how you go from years of back orders to being able to order and take delivery in months. Clearly we can tell this is for the high priced top of the line models they are going after since it is their long range performance AWD model that you can order. Is it fair to all the others that have been waiting and gave an interest free loan to Tesla for a place inline? What are your thoughts? Autoweek story
  10. That is totally cool, Washington state has just one nuclear power plant left that is slated for end of life shutdown in about 10 years or so. For the most part, pretty green as the bulk of power is produced by Hydro, wind and some solar. Our Energy Profile. Plus the site allows you to select your state for any other members who are interested in seeing what forms of power are used for electricity, petro production, etc. https://www.eia.gov/state/?sid=WA
  11. So when the state says the cost to the consumer is 6 cents per kWh, that must be before taxes service fees, etc. then probably? Still even 10 cents per kWh is cheap compared to what I have seen for other states especially California and much cheaper than petro costs right now.
  12. Totally makes sense to have this on every model in the product portfolio.
  13. The exterior is Forgettable. Just a Blah looks like every other MB car is the the S-class or A? Best part of this car is the interior dash view. I like what they are showing here.
  14. I honestly do not remember the federal details, but every airline does have a policy you need to review in regards to what they will do and not do or cover and the amount of time they promise to rectify the issue. Here is the two links that cover what you are asking for from our GOV: https://www.transportation.gov/airconsumer/baggage https://www.transportation.gov/airconsumer/fly-rights To quote the site: Limits on liability Airlines assert a limit on their liability for delayed, lost or damaged checked baggage. When your luggage and its contents are worth more than the liability limit, you may want to purchase "excess valuation," if available, from the airline as you check in. This is not insurance, but it will increase the carrier's potential liability. The airline may refuse to sell excess valuation on some items that are especially valuable or breakable, such as antiques, musical instruments, jewelry, manuscripts, negotiable securities and cash. On domestic trips, the airline can invoke a liability ceiling that is regulated by DOT and that is adjusted for inflation every two years. That limit is currently $3,500 per passenger. On international round trips that originate in the United States, the liability limit is set by a treaty called the Montreal Convention. This treaty also governs liability on international round trips that originate in another country that has ratified this Convention, and one-way trips between the U.S. and such a country. This international limit is adjusted for inflation every five years; it is currently 1,131 Special Drawing Rights. The SDR is a currency surrogate that floats daily; go to www.imf.org[external link] to see the current value in dollars. At this writing 1,131 SDRs was worth about $1,675. The international limit applies to domestic segments of an international journey. This is the case even if the domestic and international flights are on separate tickets and you claim and re-check your bag between the two flights. Keep in mind that the liability limits are maximums. If the depreciated value of your property is worth less than the liability limit, this lower amount is what you will be offered. If the airline's settlement doesn't fully reimburse your loss, check your homeowner's or renter's insurance; it sometimes covers losses away from the residence. Some credit card companies and travel agencies offer optional or even automatic supplemental baggage coverage. Special liability requirements apply to the domestic transportation of assistive devices used by passengers with disabilities. See the publication New Horizons: Information for the Air Traveler with a Disability.
  15. Finally Facebook is being hit for selling off their user data! Should have happened months ago. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/FB
  16. Guess when you live in a state that has the cheapest electric rates in the nation and is state controlled so it takes Voters approval to increase rates, one does not worry about WS taking it over. 6 cents per kWh makes it a deal to drive EV.
  17. WOW, Clearly they must not sell well there as you cannot find one here that is AWD in that price range. Must be our tech boom that is keeping prices at msrp cause that pricing gets ya FWD. Interesting. If I was interested in one, it would even with having to pay sales tax make it worth the PTO time to go out of state, buy it and drive it back home.
  18. Seems like he might have passed on July 23rd as various news outlets state the hospital put him on life support to allow his family to get to the hospital. Once his partner and sons where there, they turned off the machines. SAD and I wish the best for a recovery of his family.
  19. I have to disagree, at $37,000 you have a FWD stripped appliance Q3, you have to move into the mid $45K range to get an AWD proper luxury CUV. The Envision is not Lackluster especially when you can pickup a near fully loaded one with discounts at $40k. I would take the ultra quiet Envision over the current Q3 on the market.
  20. Very cool and next years 60 kWh battery pack will be liquid cooled rather than air and should be way better than this 40 kW pack.
  21. I like the sliding comparison of photos of incoming model versus outgoing model on this Porsche CUV. https://www.motor1.com/news/258583/porsche-macan-side-by-side/ I have to say I still love the look of the Chrysler Me Four Twelve and they should have built it. https://www.motor1.com/news/258494/chrysler-me-four-twelve-concept-we-forgot/
  22. Porsche has a very loyal fan following and yet with that said they have really only ever built a couple cars that I truly liked. Porsche 928, their first front engine car that I really liked and then their traditional mid engine but sexy 959. Amazing what prices are happening for the 959. http://www.thedrive.com/news/22402/1985-porsche-959-prototype-expected-to-go-for-around-1-5-million-at-auction
  23. @frogger Interesting as the Euro dash is much better than the American dash Will just posted. The American 2019 Q3 dash is more on par with the Buick Encore and Cadillac XT4 I feel. Style tweaks between the 2019 and 2018 not so much noticeable to me. I think for the difference of $5000 there is more than enough people who will be happy with the less peppy Buick motor over the Q3 price. Agree, but for the current $5,000 price difference, does the current 2018 Audi really make it that much better than the Encore?
