  1. That is awesome to hear, best part of CPO's is when you can get more than you were expecting. Agree with you that the Sync3 would be a must for me too. I love the Brown, just a nice warm feeling when you get into the auto unlike all the blah black out there. So what does it look like under the hood?
  2. Disagree with you and @balthazar as it has been proven that marriage in a committed long term relationship, helping to raise the kids does give a strong sense of grounding. Musk is a smart but social idiot that has no problem marring people, having a kid and then moving onto the next piece of hot ass and leaving the mother to raise the kid alone. There is nothing grounded in his sense of commitment except to himself and his own fame. CEO's that have long term marriages with kids have grown and excelled at making companies very successful. This is true be it male or female. Much research and write ups have been done on this topic. No it does not mean you have to be married to be successful, but CEO's that are with kids seem to get more right than wrong compared to the single CEO. Just look at Musk's twitter and interviews. Being Married makes you a better Entrepreneur, Here's why! https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/309988 4 reasons being happily married could make you a better CEO https://www.forbes.com/sites/stevecooper/2013/07/31/4-reasons-being-happily-married-could-make-you-a-better-ceo/#63c186af5b29 I truly believe that a happy home life with a spouse / kids makes one more grounded in looking at the big picture of how we treat others to how we run a company. Has worked for me.
  3. @ccap41 Congratulations, awesome auto. I am very excited and happy for you. Look forward to your 1 month review on it! That rocks!
  4. I know many computer engineers who use the MB and BMW subscription service here in Seattle as they do not want to bother with ownership of an auto, just use one when they need one. I see a subscription service for a solid off road activity vehicle that mostly will get used to go camping or up to the pass to ski / snowboard as a solid service for auto companies down the road. After all, you live in the city, parking is tight, space tight, why bother with auto ownership if a subscription service gives you an auto to use when you need one for nights or weekends.
  5. Seams Rivian is very focused on bringing their auto to market and offering something others have tried. The ability to be part of a subscription service where the auto is dropped off at your home when you need it. https://www.outdoorjournal.com/featured/athletes-and-explorers/imagine-cleaner-world-rivian-end-alex-honnolds-vanlife/ Outdoor life in talking to Rivian and how they plan to change the industry stated that many people only need an auto for select times, vacations, projects, etc. as such many people want a nice auto but do not or can not afford one 24/7. As such Rivian is looking to the subscription service for those that want to take their family on a ski trip or take friends to the beach for the day or weekend. To read more go to the link above to find out what Alex Honnold is doing.
  6. Rivian filed a patent for reconfigurable EVs. Specifically they filed it on having the bed be interchangeable for numerous different uses. Patent filing can be read here: http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PTXT&s1=rivian&OS=rivian&RS=rivian A forum web site not OWNED by Rivian but dedicated to all things Rivian can be found here where they have plenty of pictures based on the descriptions in the Patent Filing. https://www.rivianforums.com/threads/rivian-may-introduce-swappable-module-system-check-our-previews-inside.64/ There is lots more cool info that they discuss and have various drawn pictures but I love who ever built this gif image showing the various Swappable Modules. From the Rivian Forum group site:
  7. Tesla sent out an email inviting people to reserve the Model Y. For delivery starting in late 2021, you have to put down $2,500
  8. Makes one wonder how many of the auto's are still on all those unguarded lots across America and how much of the money actually went back to VW versus into executives pockets? VW has a long road still ahead of themselves with this nightmare.
  9. Very true, that has been an issue too. He has some great ideas, but I am skeptical of him being able to deliver. So far out of all the EV startups, the only one I really expect anything from is Rivian and I expect him to do better than Tesla. Lucky for CJ the CEO is he is married and has 3 boys so he is more grounded than Musk ever will be.
  10. That is very true Robert, I am lucky enough to get a new Escalade when I drop mine off for service and it glides even smoother. The service center has confirmed with me via phone call that while the Chevrolet and GMC use the same bearing part, the Escalade has a different part number and does indeed look different. I would have to assume this is a higher quality bearing assembly.
  11. Politics is what this is leading up to the 2020 election. Now the focus on auto's is the fact that GM has TOO MUCH capacity. As such what Mary is doing is correct to reduce costs as any smart business person would do. I honestly can see this plant being sold to one of the EV auto companies that are starting up their production. Someone somewhere is going to get hit hard as there is no limitless sales of auto's. Some body is going to lose out on auto sales. We are in interesting times and the change over will be an interesting debate. My one thought, who says it has to be an Auto Company that buys the plant for auto production? Why could it not be LG who says buys the plant to build EV battery packs that are resold back to GM? Is the plant Big? YES, Hell YES! Is auto's the only thing you could produce there? NO I could see component creation there or robotic assembly line building, so many things in such a large space. Interesting times we live in friends! Interesting Times! ?
  12. Totally agree, I DO NOT know what the Wheel Bearings are, but my Escalade ESV glides so fast and far compared to my GMC Suburban SLE. The quality of bearings is truly noticeable besides all the other plastic surgery that has been done.
  13. Can anyone say Lipstick on a Pig? I knew you could! Yup, fat, bloated and does not say luxury to me at all. Really weird drawing as it looks short and fat. FAILURE in my book!
  14. Excited yes, very cool, but track record shows he has problems delivering. Hopefully he can do it this time. Will be exciting to get more info on this. Hopefully at least mid size and not a compact.
  15. With all the scientific evidence about protection from the sun, at least on the rear doors tinting to match should be a standard. I just do not get a luxury car being built with clear glass. In regards to the seating, the only way you can have a coupe roof line is to drop the rear seats below the front seats so the people sit in a hole and cannot really see out. No matter what, this is luxury and interior space should be superior over following a stupid ass Coupe trend that everyone has. They could have done so much better on this rear than they did. I love the rear end and front from B pillar forward, it is just this coupe roof line and the C pillar that I really am not a fan of.
  16. I actually like it better in the red than the silver, but I have two big issues with this car: First is the STUPID COUPE style which kills rear head room and to have headroom the rear passengers have to sit in a hole. Second is the weird funky 3rd window or whatever the black section in the smaller box above represents. Even the smaller stationary glass piece sucks due to how the door is cut. From the B pillar forward I am very happy with the car. Best View of the car IMHO.
  17. 9mm versus 9.1 mm or .357 which has twice the gunpowder of a 9mm as to why it causes more damage. It is all about choices yet if you spent any time in a country that teaches all things metric, it is very easy for a person to visualize a 187 centimeter person. I know after 3 1/2yrs in college in Japan, that is all they see as is pretty much any asian country and it really is not hard to visualize a person size based on the math used predominantly by people. If canada was not next to the US but say Europe, you might be able to better visualize meters rather than feet. Pro's and Con's to both systems Your right most auto's have gone metric, but then you still find weird standard parts on the auto's too, so this is why learning both is important I feel. In regards to Kilowatts versus horsepower, In north America we use horses to visualize power, but in many other places they use energy to visualize the same thing. If we showed a large tesla storage yard to represent power of an auto over showing a range with 300 horses on it running, I think people could understand Kilowatts versus Horsepower. It is all about how and what we use to learn.
  18. You can resist all you want, but we already speak one language of 1's and 0's. After all this whole forum is how it is done, humanity can expand faster if we all used a consistent standard. Metric is superior to the standard system of the US. Just like Europe has embraced our coding that the US created as the programming is superior. Change is inevitable and Metric is a better system just as it is time to move forward with kW (Kilowatts) and nM (Newtmeters) for a fair replacement to Torque and Horsepower. We be the 21st century not the 19th. In all fairness I will still not feel any hostility towards you as you are the keeper of all things OLD and I seriously respect that. History is what we learn from to make the future better. Your "01100001 01110111 01100101 01110011 01101111 01101101 01100101" For everyone else, what is wrong with knowing both metric and standard systems. Our education system fails all Americans by not teaching what is used globally and still thinking America leads the world in everything. We need better education!
  19. Which makes one wonder if he could not have the Model E, why not the Model Ǝ and really F&*K with Ford! This would then have given Tesla the Following Models: SƎXY
  20. I wish I had been able to take a picture, but driving back home with my lunch in heavy traffic I had a Sprinter van pull in front of me. Specifically it was Sprinter AMG on Left door. V6 Bluetec on Right door. ? If a Performance cargo van is considered Luxury, then MB truly has lost the crown of uber luxury and is now as many here have stated just another Toyota / Chevrolet / Ford, etc. Automaker with some seriously overpriced auto's. SPRINTER AMG Vans? ?
  21. I watched the whole reveal while working till 2am this morning. I will say that the 7 people they had come out of the auto were all around 5'4" or so. They all clearly were shorter than Musk. What little you could see in the videos, I honestly think the 3rd row is for kids or for comfort adults that are little people, under 5' tall. At best maybe 4 people my size can fit in it but in reality, only 2 people my size as in the Model X no one can sit behind me. When it was teased under that black cover from the rear 3/4 shot, first thing in my mind was, Great another ugly Prius type hatchback. Guess I was not far off on it. Yes fits the family, I hope it is successful, but I honestly think Rivian has some better cool stuff in their auto's.
  22. Have not seen it yet, on the movie watch list. I see what you posted so far on the movie. Does sound interesting. Do you feel it was period accurate on all the messaging?
