GM News: UAW to Strike General Motors Tonight
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in General Motors
Seems there is not much more GM can offer considering that the UAW is the best paid employees in the auto industry according to this story. https://www.foxbusiness.com/industrials/gm-union-expectations-employees-compensation-uaw Wonder how long this strike will go on. ?- 44 replies

VW News: Volkswagen Picks Up De Nysschen for COO
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Volkswagen
Some how I DOUBT it that he will make them " faster, better and smarter." He is for sure no 6 million dollar man and VW needs a true visionary not a follower to help them move forward after Dieselgate. -
True, I would agree with that statement that it will not win over any Ford, Chevrolet, GMC or RAM fans, but for the asian fans, it should do better than the current model on the lots.
-
Over all a nice looking truck that clearly copied nuances from Ford. The first silver / wood dash looks dated and cheap to me. The second all black dash with red stiching and black chrome accents I really like. Looks good. Over all should sell well for them.

Yup, the Mazda 6 get the ricer treatment here in the PNW just as much as the Miata. I think it is a culture thing of the Asian community here. You also see ricer Acura's, Toyota's, Seems if it is from Japan, they get the fart can, fast n furious applied graphics and some attempt at tune. They are funny, Thank you, never considered myself a Fanboy, but ok, if that is what you want to call it. ?

I tend to think the Insurance business knows that young men can afford a used Miata and will attempt to make it a street racer with a fart can attached and as such charge more than the older men who can afford the corvette.

Tesla seems to be gearing up to start charging for connectivity with a cap at 50GB a month. https://electrek.co/2019/09/24/tesla-monitoring-data-charge-connectivity/ We finally have a 168 mile rang EV auto for a asking price of $8,700 dollars. Catch is that to buy this Renault K-ZE CUV electric auto you have to go to china. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/renault-k-ze-ev-goes-on-sale-for-8700/

Canoo https://www.canoo.com/ has come out of skunk works mode to show off their low cost people mover EV. According to electrek with a fresh $1 billion in funding they will do a subscription service only of their vans which look like a modern take on the old VW microbus. https://electrek.co/2019/09/25/canoo-electric-vehicle-futuristic-subscription/#more-104351

I am very excited to see all the new EVs coming out and see how they compare to their ICE counter parts.

But are you thick with muscles? That is where I run into space issues, is most sports cars and the Corvette seems to be no different is not built for thick, big guys. My sports / suit jacket is a 60, so my shoulders tend to have issues also. Trust me you would hate to be in the seat next to me on a plane. I eat up space faster than a Ferrari attempting to catch the tail lights of a ZR1 Corvette.

I have a 2006 Escalade ESV Platinum, last year of the cushy seat with built in support. As a road trip person who drives 15 to 20 thousand miles a year, I usually will do on average 500 to 600 miles in a day and can tell you since Gen 2 the seats have gotten harder and harder and are not long road trip worthy seats. Have my slade going in this Friday for service before another road trip up through Canada and the Banf national park. I did the same trip last year in a new loaner and my butt hurt. Not comfy seats for long road trips. Size, is 6'6" tall 290lbs, 20% body fat at most recent tank testing, working to get back to 15%. Yes I body build still. Long legs as I have a 40" inseam, so seats have to go down to the floor and all the way back for me to be comfy. Reason I do not fit in the Corvettes. long legs. Yes Seat extenders would be nice as the current Slade seats seem shorter than my 2006.

The engine, transmission and rear differential along with the integrated cooling system is pure Corvette. at almost 30K miles a leak developed in the cooling system that took out the hand build trans and messed up the rear diff. Lucky warranty covered it, but the Chevrolet paper work once done stated the hand built parts from the corvette factory. I still have it in my file for the auto. Very cool in that regards. Bullet proof since for the last 115,000 plus miles.

Yup welcome to my world View! At least in the pacific northwest, you find plenty of better Excursion Diesels, but rarely a V10. So yes at least in the PNW they are very rare even in truck form they are rare for Ford. Ram on the other hand has V10 everywhere.
-
So you did not know that the SS are based on a corvette? It is the same C6 Corvette power train with a stiffer suspension, taller air intake to take advantage of better torque to move the heavier body on frame auto.

Nice, too bad it has a FART can applied to it.

Nope never gonna happen. Dogs especially but I have heard this with cats also all my life they are children to those that choose to NOT have human children and even in families with human children, you have you animal children. IMHO, Dogs are the best Children families can have as they love ya no matter what in all stages of life.

Nissan News: 2020 Nissan Patrol Debuts in the Middle East
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Nissan
Makes sense, so then if the charge is not crazy, a Nissan Armada owner could buy the updated flash and bring their Armada to a QX80 level of performance. I like that, sleeper level.
