  1. Ya can keep the horrible dry heat. I love my rain and snow! ⛷️ Until ya get your legs and arms cut off and then your the Pool Bob! ?
  2. On the subject of Tesla, Musk has confirmed that in short term situations, the Model S does float as is proof in this eastern Europe video that a Tesla S owner posted showing all the ICE auto's that stalled out in a flooded tunnel and how his Model S using the wheels spinning was able to get around the auto's and out and continue on it's way. Sucks to be a standard ICE auto that day.
  3. Will be worth watching as this could have major ramifications on over the air updates / changes. Imagine you buy a fully loaded auto, go to resell it and then features disappear or become disabled by the OEM saying they did not get paid for selling the auto to a new owner with those features. very sucky. Major Suck Big Time!
  4. Have to say in comparing the outgoing model to this new incoming refresh, it is really sharp. Liking the new version. The only thing to make it better would be a 400 mile EV version using in-wheel hub motors so you have AWD with a ton more space inside.
  5. I have heard of the stories of Tesla removing features from used auto's put up for sale in essence forcing the new buyer to have to repay to get said features back on the auto. Really sucks and I think is just one of many reasons I do not trust Tesla. Now it is finally getting news time with the latest story of Tesla selling auto's with a set of features and the auto bought at Tesla Auction is resold to a new customer only to have Tesla audit over the air the auto and remove $8,000 of features saying they never really paid for it. https://jalopnik.com/tesla-remotely-removes-autopilot-features-from-customer-1841472617 I have to say this is a lawsuit as the paperwork shows the auto came with said features and it should not be removed. BAD TESLA, BAD
  6. @William Maley If ya get one for testing, please let us know how noisy the inside is. Reading around current owners say the engine is a noisy sewing machine but gets the job done and you hear plenty of road / wind / etc. noise.
  7. Is it just me or does that back remind me of the Honda Civic with the lighting? ? Really just a marketing bit with the ability to keep a fan going circulating air to have a cooler inside in hot weather climates I think.
  8. This is where I get it for EVs, but for ICE it makes no sense to me. They should have kept it L based. I do understand they are wanting people to get used to 400, 500, 600, 800, 1000 badgeing so when an EV comes out, it will not be a big deal.
  9. Found this story that covers the components that are going into the Mach e EV and have to say I am very impressed with the quality of parts Ford is using. It also clearly shows the reduction in complexity of an EV over ICE. Worth clicking the link if your interested. https://electricrevs.com/2019/11/18/mustang-mach-e-powertrain-up-close-and-personal/ This is a great picture. The motor on the left is on the RWD GT versions and you get two of these motors in the GT AWD version. The motor on the right is the RWD and AWD motor for non GT versions. Far more details at the link, but was cool to read on the quality of square heavy duty copper wire used compared to the ultra thin thread style that Nissan uses in the Leaf, etc.. Here is their 10 module battery pack with a single cell that is made for them by LG.
  10. Right especially when you can get other brands with 4 banger or V6. It really is messed up.
  11. Me thinks this engine will get the real world testing that Nissan wants and then in the new Frontier, it will have a considerable bump in power and torque. Still hate DOHC engines that have more HP than Torque.
  12. Correct, they are just applied panels, but at least it gave it a different look. Now the 3 have the same back, doors and front fenders, they are all identical if you removed the logo and that face, they should have stayed with Art n Science as it was a solid differentiating style compared to GMC and Chevrolet. Tue, I am one of the rare people that does take my Escalade off road, but that is rare compared to the bulk of them.
  13. I would agree with you in regards to the GMC and Chevy as the sides are almost identical, but Cadillac did stand out from the other two with their wheel wells and the cladding at the bottom of the doors.
  14. @Robert Hall Thank you for posting those images as it also clearly points out how far the Escalade has FAILED on this release for a UNIQUE Exterior compared to the GMC or Chevrolet brand. Now it truly does show just a rebadge job on the outside, so 1990's. What a shame that GM cannot seem to understand that Luxury needs to truly stand apart from the rest of the family. Here is what the family looked like in 2006. Platinum for Cadillac, Denali for GMC and Z71 for Chevrolet. All far more distinct than the current group now.
  15. This to me is a major problem with the new Escalade: One I hate the bling around the windows, reflects, just tacky, such a Baby Boomer thing. As has been pointed out, the C pillar is a BIG MISTAKE! Keeping it auto colored with the caddy logo would have been fine, not this pasted on black with chrome angle crap. Being that I use the space often and haul plenty of people, I need the ESV and WHY the Bunker look? Hate that the last window is up what looks like another 2 inches, so smaller, less vision out and all the windows look smaller than the outgoing 2020 model. HATE the BUNKER look, failure in design and I DOUBT it really adds that much safety to the auto's for the occupants. To ME, the B pillar looks much thicker and wider than past Escalades B pillars. Side view shows the Brick front end to be just that a FAILURE of a slab of ugly with far less sweeping design for slipping through the wind.
  16. Yes truly better than Tesla, but that Nose. Just as Hideous as Tesla.
  17. Seems we can see the Escalade ESV version here at Cadillac Visualizer tool. Too funny, no need to wait till April. https://visualizer.cadillac.com/?carline=escalade&modelYear=2021&brand=cadillac&language=en&country=US&channel=b2c You can choose from eight exterior colors, four wheel options, and three interior choices.
  18. Tesla has had the worlds largest charging network to date with 756 charging stations installed and setup over the last 8 years. Everyone is aware that due to Dieselgate or the VW settlement with the government, Electrify America was created to install electric charging stations across America. Within the last 20 months they have made astonishing progress and on Monday February 3rd announced their 400th Charging station. These stations being able to on average deliver 150 kWh of charge to auto's with many of the locations able to charge at 350 kWh which is almost double the fastest charge one can get at a Tesla V3 supercharger. Currently Electrify America is on target to have 800 Stations by December 2021 which means it could potentially pass Tesla for Charging locations in the near future. Coast to Coast charging network. On top of this as Shell, Mobil and Exxon add pay to charge systems at their gas stations this will expand options for where one would charge. Future looks very bright indeed. https://media.electrifyamerica.com/en-us/releases/90
  19. @dwightlooi Dwight, please look at this and give us your thoughts on this story. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1126963_gasoline-direct-injection-tech-might-not-be-worth-it-study-suggests Very intersting read on why Gas direct injection is not worth it.
  20. Florida is looking to become the 26th state that taxes EVs under the guise that they do not pay their share in road tax at the pump. With EVs making up only .06% of auto sales in the state, clearly there is other forces at work here and sure enough in looking at this you find big oil and the Koch brothers spending millions to get this in place to stop EVs. Crazy how they fear EVs. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/floridas-proposed-ev-tax-raises-questions-of-fairness-and-corporate-influence/ Washington state just finished a year long study of which 5,000 citizens took part in having a GPS module added to their auto to monitor mileage and most found they paid less tax than they did with a tax bill on the gas as it was the most accurate but over 60% said at the end they did not like the Government having a GPS tracker on their auto. My thought is that Mileage and weight of the auto taken into account is the best way to tax auto's over a gas tax. The way you get around the GPS or any tracking module is have yearly safety inspections which we do not have here and when they check to insure the auto is safe for the road, they record your mileage and you pay the mileage tax at the time you pay your renewal license. What do others think on how we need to revamp our taxation on auto's? We seem to be growing toll roads at the same time that efficiency of auto's reduces gas tax revenue that is supposed to support road maintenance / replacement costs.
  21. Thanks Dwight as always, Yes I have ridden Harley's and not a fan of it. Just thought the Motus V4 was an interesting engine that is supposed to be balanced. I figure like you pointed out that they engineered it with a better balance than the basic cut a V8 in half. Love the engineering input on the firing that is good to know and understand as is the boost part.
  22. I honestly think GM was internally sold a lets reduce our ICE engine options and cost by doing a global 3 cylinder engine till our EVs are ready. Yet so far their 3 cylinder engines that I have seen are all noisy, rough, totally unrefined. Cheapassery is the perfect term for them. I honestly would go with smaller 4 bangers than go 3 and keep them going till you have EVs ready to sell. Based on losses by both Ford and GM, I wonder about these companies long term as other companies start to get production going on their auto's and do not have the legacy complaints that these two companies are dragging with them. Something to ponder. ?
  23. Seems even in China, they do not like 3 Cylinder engines as Chinese have said they are unrefined, noisy and not what they want. GM is now working to get certified 4 cylinder motors for their product line in China after going 3 cylinder only and loosing market share to Toyota and VW / Mercedes / BMW that kept 4 cylinder and offered 3 cylinder as a reduced cost option that has little up take. GM of old here not having a solid product to offer and not a ready marketing plan to deal with the cylinder count issue. ? https://www.autonews.com/china/gm-rolls-back-radical-plan-offer-only-3-cylinder-engines-some-china-cars-report-says Seems Subaru due to higher than expected warranty costs has a 42% fall in profits and Mazda has a 76% profit fall. WOW ? https://www.autonews.com/automakers-suppliers/subaru-profit-falls-42-higher-warranty-costs https://www.autonews.com/automakers-suppliers/mazda-profit-slumps-76-currency-hits
  24. Rally Car Lovers Rejoice, RJ let the beans spill in an interview with Autoblog. Seems the 3rd auto from Rivian will be a Rally Inspired electric car. RJ says they will use all the technology that is going into their truck and SUV in a lite weight rally inspired car that folks will love. Based on these spy pictures it looks to be a hatchback, Autoblog says reminds them of a Mazda 3. Not much else is known and since then RJ has been mum on it when ever anyone brings it up. They are focused on the Truck and SUV along with their Ford and Amazon obligations. One has to figure they are also still working this skunk project for future production, but do not want to take the excitement off their first to market products. Imagine a rally car with a 400, 500 or 600 mile battery pack, AWD. https://www.autoblog.com/2019/02/12/rivian-rally-inspired-electric-car/#slide-1294254
