  1. I grew up in a little town called Darrington, Washington. I can totally understand how you feel, even today, dial up modem is the only way, no radio other than the local church. In between multiple mountain ranges so even getting greater seattle TV over the air is next to impossible. Here is a current picture of the town now. Winter wonderland. Love it there, as my parents had us in a log cabin on 5 acres on the outskirt of this town. As you can see lovely sun sets and a weird triangle intersection is the core of the town. Great fishing and hunting. One can easily get off the grid here.
  2. Seems Electric auto sales have surpassed Manual ICE auto sales. 2019 only 1.1% of auto's sold were a Manual Transmission. Electric auto's were 1.6% of sales in 2019. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1127027_confirmed-electric-cars-outsold-manuals-for-the-first-time-in-2019
  3. Rivian was originally following Tesla as it started work on an electric car before switching to trucks and SUVs due to the market demand. They still have a rally car concept being worked on so it could still come out later as a much reduced sales niche model. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1127035_get-a-glimpse-inside-rivian-and-what-it-was-developing-before-electric-trucks
  4. Very cool article on the pro's and con's of a Frunk. They ask if it is really a good use of the space or should the last few things like HVAC be pushed into the nose of the auto giving even more space in the cabin for other uses. What does everyone here think about the Frunk? Good use, bad use..... If no Frunk, what could the extra space inside be used for? https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1127040_electric-car-frunks-bonus-space-or-wasted-opportunity I will say that Ford does make some interesting ideas on the use such as Tailgating. Very cool latest video about Rivian and where it started and where it is today. RJ Started the company when he was 26. ?
  5. Suburbia is a requirement for me. Wife wants to be close to shopping malls, our kids, etc. No rural even though I could enjoy living rural but my job does require gigabit Ethernet connectivity. So Suburbia is it. Lucky for me, 1hr to 1 1/2 hrs to the mountain passes to ski, camp etc. Love everything being so close.
  6. True, all good points, I wonder how many auto's they moved when Ford was invested in them? I know they built many an auto for Ford. I know my 1993 Escort GT was a pocket rocket that would have lasted long time if not for the semi that totaled it and hurt my wife. These were great little cars. I had the stick and could actually fit in this even as big as I am.
  7. Might be a good move considering how little Mazda produces and the cash flow issues they seem to be having. I suspect in the next 10 years they either get bought or go away.
  8. So this is what happens in Ohio when the kids move away for tech jobs rather than farming? ? ?
  9. Looks like a horror movie prop set.
  10. Sadly while most auto companies will kill off their cars, I suspect that Toyota Lemmings will keep their cars going and we will have the blah ugly Toyo cars for ever. I will give Hyundai credit for taking a risk and making this car. Lots of reasons to just kill them off, but they went ahead and built it still.
  11. Dropped my son off after a day of skiing at his townhouse and his neighbor had taken out of his garage a very cherry Mustang.
  12. You can do it my friend, I believe everyone can. Not sure if you have them there local, but there is a company here that is called Orange Theory fitness. My daughter has never been one to like working out and there she has stuck with it now for 1 1/2 years and likes the group workouts and social and has lost noticeable weight. https://www.orangetheoryfitness.com/ Highly recommend this kind of program for those that are not inclined to push themselves to a gym. Good luck my friend with your physical fitness challenge. Looks like they have multiple in your area according to their location search for Cleveland Ohio.
  13. Robert your always welcome to move to Seattle. You would fit right in, temp range is very common here, snow is only a few days a year, rest stays where it belongs, in the mountains. September 1 2018 I decided to make some changes in my life and went back to my old body building focus days. At that time my tank test and bone density test came out at 35% body fat which is way too high for me but lucky my bone density is higher than normal, was 1.4 on the 0 to 2 scale. Average bone density for most 50 year olds is a .7 to .8 as men hit their max bone density in their late 20's. You can always get some back by weight lifting and drinking / eating dairy which is very important in our later years. So retested just recently to check in on my body fat. Bone density only needs to be done every 10 years they say once you hit 50. Good way to know if you will end up stooped over and using a walker or standing tall.
  14. Very Cool, trained in Muay Thai Train weekly with my son. After all we are in the era of Mixed martial arts and UFC!
  15. @William Maley @balthazar @ocnblu @Robert Hall@Drew Dowdell Hey guys, I have not seen Drew on here in a while, anyone know if he is doing OK? I know with his job status things are up in the air. Wishing @Drew Dowdell all the best. Hope he is doing fine.
  16. Remember, I am 6'6" 280lbs and I workout daily. right now 20% body fat, working to get back to my competition days of 15%. I hit hard when I fly down the mountain, my bulk might bruise you my friend!
  17. Maybe my friend you need to workout more, bulk up so you can handle that cool nice moist air! FYI Stevens where I ski has a base of 108" as of today. Baker has a base of 165" today. Season is so young, lots of months left to ski.
  18. I can easily see some of the new Hummer EV having this style in it. Lots of people loved the look of this truck.
  19. Ya sure your not thinking of the Chrysler Aspen! This could be that, lift kit for say 6 inches, body cladding and BOOM, New Chrysler Aspen CUV!
  20. It would float by your Fiat, I mean Jeep, I mean Chevrolet, I mean .............. ?
  21. So growing up in Oregon then explains allot as you where either a Duck or Beaver fan and your right Oregon gets Rain, Washington gets rain but allot of drizzle. FYI, Snow fall averages by state show AZ with less than 5 inches a year compared to Washington with almost 16. http://www.usa.com/rank/us--average-snow--state-rank.htm Just to also set the record straight, Washington leads the Nation in recorded snow fall at our Ski Resorts. Mt. Baker leads the way with 701" average. That is 58 feet and 5 inches of snowfall. Like metric, 1,780.54 cm or 17.8 meters of snow. AZ seems to be missing from this list of most snow fall.............. Your right on one thing, do not have to have sun equal lights, but with the cloud cover it does end up darker more often than sunny. No depression in my household or family lines, but we do like to see what we are reading, eating, etc. Plus as one that enjoys having people over for Korean BBQ dinners and wine drinking, I like to have a warm, cheerful household for others to visit. Thinking of everyone else in wanting them to have an enjoyable time. Plus the 6500K led bulbs are dirt chip at Costco and pretty much will last forever, far better than the old incandescent bulbs which burn out so often. Glad you love your sun and heat, more for you and more cold for me. Sitting here in shorts and a tshirt with snow in the mountains and cold rain here, 39 degrees. Loving it!!!!
  22. Glad you like it there, pretty pics, but still too warm for me. Anything over 60 is bloody hot. If I could do my job from Alaska, I would move there.
  23. Keep delusion-ally telling yourself how you love it there. Being born here, the one thing you always do is put 6500K lights in your house so you have sun equal lighting. Never a dull depressed day. Love the drizzle 9 months of the year and the 3 months of summer that is 70-80's, no humidty and sunny. Plus gotta love our summer days of daylight from 4:30am to 11pm. 2 days in one. Work early morning and still enjoy a day of play after work. Yup, will keep my hiking, camping, outdoor activities year round. Course love that we have more boats registered here than auto's. After all so many lovely places to boat too and explore. Love my winter views when skiing. Better yet is my office view for working during the week. Yea can keep your heat hell of sun and skin cancer. I will enjoy the clouds and mountains and beauty of the PNW. Course your always welcome to come visit!
