  1. That is truly crazy, but not out of line if it is a full package of motors, controllers, wires, battery pack, etc to fit into an established auto. Pricing out the parts not including the battery pack for my suburban has me at just under $20k for everything. Size of the battery pack will be the biggest cost.
  2. Agree, they are some expensive taxis. Course Oslo lets ya write off 50% cost 1st years and then other 50% cost second year. I also wondered about the charge times as the company making the wireless charge pads say they continuously charge as you sit over it. Still cool tech use.
  3. Some cool stuff out on the EV front. Whole new industry has started up as they have found they can Shred Li-Ion cells and recover the bulk of the materials to make new batteries. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/recovering-usable-battery-grade-materials-from-shredded-li-ion-cells-free-webcast/ Seems Oslo is moving ahead of the world to a clean transport mode for the taxis as they have gone to putting in Wireless charging pads so Taxi's never have to leave their lane while waiting for the next fare and get recharged all at the same time. This allows for a high speed wireless charge keeping the batteries at their optimal charged point. Oslo has choosen to go with Jaguar i-Pace as the taxi of choice for use in the city of Oslo. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/jaguar-i-pace-electric-taxis-charging-wirelessly-in-oslo/ Interesting details on a company that is improving how Auto OEMs can reduce start up costs on making battery packs. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/improving-ev-battery-manufacturing-production-costs/
  4. Cut tomato sauce with heavy amount of cane sugar to get to a neutral PH level and I can tolerate it, but the Heart Burn sucks. Grew up on eating homemade Tomato soup and as I got older, it just made me ill. My body seems to not get along with Tomato anything. Rather have a Pesto Chicken pizza. My other goto Pizza is BBQ Chicken Pizza. Everything is better with BBQ sauce. Pizza is awesome, white sauce pizza everything is da Bomb!
  5. @trinacriabob Seriously pass on all things Tomatoes. That is one fruit that seriously makes me puke. How does the Icecream taste with turkey in it?
  6. Today was the day I had to go in, pack up my cubicle and became like @Robert Hall working from home full time. At least I got my setup at home now. On the way out with all my stuff, saw a true oldie along with a modern auto in the parking garage. Have to say seeing the eTron again, that CUV has a phat ass. Sadly, so many businesses are gone. One of my favorite as they made just awesome breakfast/lunch only meals was "The Biscuit Bitch" RIP.
  7. Shortage FYI, seems the Pandemic is causing a shortage being produced. Mountain Dew Fans need to stock up.
  8. Are you sure your not talking about DC? ? Same Shit different Capital.
  9. Seems Canada has decided they do not want us. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/8-in-10-canadians-want-border-with-us-to-remain-closed-due-to-virus-concerns-poll/ar-BB16uJ4T?ocid=msedgntp 8 in 10 Canadians want the border to remain closed to the US.
  10. Ya gotta love the look and Mitsubishi products to buy this when so many other better options are out there.
  11. Stay safe my friend, I hear 25% of those tested are positive for Covid-19 and Arizona is now running the highest infection rate with highest death rate. Scary.
  12. When you look at the front end, ignore the headlights or daytime running light bar, but look at the smooth rounded nose of the Rivian to the Suburban. Look at the slit angle of the back of both SUVs. Over all Profile looks very similar to my suburban. Even the belt line down the side, the type of wheel well arches. I see many similar style points. Makes me think the folks that styled the Rivian grew up around the 90's suburban's. As @balthazar states, till production starts later this year, it is just a concept. They have a couple dozen test mules running around. They even did a full trip that is documented online driving them from Argentina back north through South America, Central America and into the US back to the corporate campus. Testing the R1T, Truck at high altitude and heat. The auto's did a super job of getting the employees testing the trucks back home. You can also find video clips of their journey on their Rivian Instagram account. https://www.instagram.com/rivianofficial/ Here is the SUV up in Colorado doing some skiing/snowboarding.
  13. First picture is out of a Ford Mach e next to a Tesla Y at a charging station. To me, the Mach e looks way better than the Tesla. Details comparing the two can be reviewed here: https://electrek.co/2020/07/07/tesla-model-y-ford-mustang-mach-e-picture-side-by-side/
  14. Chevy Sonic is DEAD. The assembly line will be used as a second dedicated EV line to build the Bolt EUV. Orion plant while being converted to a 2nd EV assembly line, will still have the option to convert back to building ICE auto's if needed. https://electrek.co/2020/07/07/gm-kills-chevy-sonic-making-room-for-bolt-euv-at-companys-second-all-ev-plant/
  15. AC cars, a British automaker will be launching a licensed EV version of the Cobra at $138,000 with a 150 mile battery pack range with 308HP / 469 lb-ft of torque going 0 to 62mph in 6.7 seconds. Car will weigh 2,755 lbs. They admit it is not equal to the Racing cobra's but clearly out performs the original AC Cobra which were powered by inline 4 & 6 cylinder engines. https://electrek.co/2020/07/07/ac-cars-is-building-an-electric-cobra-for-138000/
  16. Seems more and more EV bus studies are coming out showing they are lower cost of operation even with a slightly higher cost of purchase. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/iea-case-study-electric-buses-in-helsinki-finland/ https://chargedevs.com/newswire/case-study-2-electric-buses-in-santiago-chile/
  17. I see the 2019 public transit report for the US is out and updated including now a Canadian section. https://www.apta.com/wp-content/uploads/APTA_Fact-Book-2019_FINAL.pdf Some interesting facts, the one noticeable change is Diesel buses where 70% in 2008 and now in 2019 only make up 42% as the US changes to hybrid and EV buses. Due to increased ridership in transit, diesel fuel stayed consistent at about 600 Million gallons a year used in the US while CNG, Propane and Electricity increased as ridership increased. Page 32 is where you have the top 50 largest transit agencies and the passenger miles. Interesting is that the current info here is up to 2017 and compares to 2016. Depending on where you have growth in jobs, it clearly shows the higher growth cities. Washington State Ferries is the largest in the US as I knew, and continues to grow. Lots of good info. This report shows that CNG / Hybrid buses are far more efficient than Diesel buses. The average use in Transit / Schools is as you say, 12yrs with 500,000 miles expected. https://mjbradley.com/sites/default/files/CNG Diesel Hybrid Comparison FINAL 05nov13.pdf Here are some additional sources of info that show EV transit buses outweigh costs. https://www.eesi.org/papers/view/fact-sheet-electric-buses-benefits-outweigh-costs
  18. Realized why I like Rivian Truck and SUV so much, reminds me of the same body style of my beloved Suburban!
  19. Figure that a round number would be an average between buses that run high and low. I know that the School buses on the peninsula here in Washington average 15,000 miles a year due to the far spread out range of the kids in the small towns that get picked up unlike the school buses in Seattle that average 6,000 miles a year. I will make the assumption that the medium to small towns that have opened up their books have a mixture of both high mileage and low mileage buses. I understand the point your making though. The optimist in me looks at the positive side of people being honest till proven they are liars.
