Yes, while I was being a bit sarcastic in my response, it was not meant to be a political post and just like yours, I do not see it as political either. I will say, I worry for friends who live there due to the lack of leadership and support for PROVEN TESTED MEASURES that can reduce and in many cases stop the spread of a deadly Virus. Sad all the people in Florida and Texas that are starving for oxygen and life due to ignorance and proven science.

That is a Million Dollar question as GM has not stated which type their motors are. You can look at their EV site or any press release and that is one thing no one seems to have asked. Committing to an All-Electric Future | General Motors (gm.com) GM Reveals New Ultium Batteries and a Flexible Global Platform to Rapidly Grow its EV Portfolio Even in the very detailed release of the Cadillac Lyriq they do not state if the motors are AC or DC. 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ Debuts, Heralding an All-Electric Future (gm.com) Very weird as I would have thought an automag site would have asked that tech question and I have not found an answer yet. Do not be surprised if they are DC motors due to being cheaper to repair and DC seems to wear out faster than AC. UPDATE: So I found this story on when the Bolt was coming out. The technology behind the soon-to-arrive Chevrolet Bolt EV - Electronic Products QUOTE: The Bolt uses a permanent-magnet synchronous motor built in South Korea by Chevy partner LG-e. The high-efficiency motor is a GM design that provides 200 hp/150 kW. Peak motor efficiency is 97%. And SAE confirms that it is an AC Motor system: Electric Motor Design of General Motors’ Chevrolet Bolt Electric Vehicle (sae.org) This current story seems to imply that the whole Ultium Powertrain platform is AC as both the Hybrid Corvette and BEV Corvette will use AC motors as will the rest of the GM family of Hybrids / BEVs. Electrified Corvette (sae.org) QUOTE the Corvette story: To further exploit its vaunted Corvette nameplate, GM appears ready to bless a new family of battery-electric SUVs with the sportscar’s badge and design cues. Bloomberg recently reported that GM’s Project R will bring just such a product to market after 2025. At a CES 2021 presentation, GM design VP Mike Simcoe confirmed that the company’s coming Ultium battery pack “enables a wide range of models, especially for a broad brand like Chevrolet. The Ultium platform will allow Chevrolet to further expand its range of electric vehicles to full-size pickups, compact SUVs and even high-performance vehicles.” Traditionalists may lament this extension of the hallowed nameplate to vehicles with too many seats, but there’s no surer way to guarantee life for the Corvette after the last drop of petroleum has been consumed. Newest review: 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV electric Performance and MPG | CarIndigo.com They clearly state AC Motors confirmed via GM.

Simple answer, 15ft underwater! Due to the aqueducts being empty, the Ocean made Florida a sink hole of major proportions due to the ignorant leadership that made it a one grave state! After all, ya gotta put the dead somewhere, so now it is underwater and we have our newest southern state of Cuba and the state sandwich is the Cuban!

I think this is no different than an engine that looses compression and the transmission loosing torque. It will be interesting as data becomes available to compare how electric motors compare to ICE in regards to what they loose in HP/Torque as we know ICE looses MPG as the engine wears, so some battery loss is normal and I honestly do not think 10.5% over 400,000 miles is that big of a deal. Newer batteries are getting even better so just as ICE has improved MPG, I expect newer batteries to do the same with electric motors.

Thank you, that is awesome, so cool to see technology truly being used over the long haul as electronics became better. I honestly felt GM needed to make 4WS standard on all their SUVs / Trucks when I test drove a GMC Truck with it. You really do not realize how nice it is till you drive a very large auto with 4WS and see how clean and tight turning and lane changes are.

Interesting TESLA News this week: This is a positive for Tesla - Only 10% battery loss after 200,000 miles and only another .5% loss at 400,000 miles per real world use by Tesla Owners. https://electrek.co/2021/08/12/tesla-claims-battery-packs-lose-only-capacity-200000-miles/ Elon Musk is staying they are in EXTREME Supply Chain Limitations due to Renesas and Bosch having supply problems and this is hurting them as they have to also make time to rewrite the firmware to adapt to the new hardware as they bring on additional suppliers. Seems Tesla is not able to move to additional suppliers easily due to hard coding requirements. This would imply that as a small auto company, they have yet to understand how to scale efficiently. Elon Musk puts Renesas and Bosch on blast for Tesla's 'extreme supply chain limitations' - Electrek Seems Tesla is pushing out regular customers to January 2022 now as they focuse on Long range and Performance models for Tesla 3. Long range can be built and delivered by November 2021 and Performance models their most expensive can be built and delivered in 3 to 4 weeks. Clearly Musk is focusing on Rich people and could care less about the rest of us as long as we buy Tesla marketing stuff and over priced stock, etc. to keep him going with his space program. Who cares about the average people who actually make up the bulk of the population. Tesla pushes new Model 3 Standard Range Plus orders to 2022 - Electrek This tends to enforce why I think Ford/GM/Rivian can eat Tesla fast over the next 24 months as they ramp up production.

My search did not turn that up so I appreciate you finding and sharing it with us. I did see that the version done in 2002 is considered QuadraSteer 2.0 based on earlier designs, but updated using better modern tech. That is good to see. Guess this could be where GM got their 4W steering for their BEVs.

Was Delphi owned at the creation point of Quadrasteer? I thought they were independent at that time that they offered it on GMC and Chevy trucks in 2002. Just searched and it says Deplhi was sold off from GM in 1999. Delphi Technologies - Wikipedia This story says GM offered Delphi built Quadrasteer in 2002. GM Brings Back Quadrasteer: Chevy Silverado EV Gets Four Wheel Steering | DrivingLine Did GM create it before 1999? Have not found anything and the Wiki page says 2002. Quadrasteer - Wikipedia @balthazar @riviera74 @ccap41 UPDATE - Delphi created the $5,600 Quadrasteer and offered it to various Auto OEM's. GM was the only one to sign up to offer it on their trucks as it made these large trucks turn like a compact car. Interesting data on it here: GM Quadrasteer: The Great Invention No One Wanted (motorbiscuit.com) QUOTE: Quadrasteer was a steer-by-wire rear axle developed by Delphi Automotive. It electronically controlled the rear wheels to respond in different ways based on speed and loads. Two microprocessors controlled the axle. I am honestly glad GM has built their own in-house solution for Hummer, GMC, Chevrolet for 4W-steering.

Heritage Homage to the Ford GT 1964 Prototype with a Limited-Run
G. David Felt posted an article in Ford
The Ford GT came out after a failed attempt by Ford to buy Ferrari the luxury exotic auto maker of Italy. As such, due to ego's and comments meant to hurt another, Ford choose to go racing to put Ferrari in their place by proving they could build a better Supercar. The Ford GT 64' Prototype Heritage Edition will debute at Monterey Car Week alongside the sole surviving 1964 Ford GT prototype, Chassis GT/105, in it's original livery at The Quail and on the concept lawn at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this week. To quote Ford's press release: Limited-edition run honoring the five original GT prototypes The Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition supercar wears Wimbledon White paint with Antimatter Blue graphics, including an over-the-roof triple racing stripe. Exposed carbon fiber components are prominent, including 20-inch Antimatter Blue-painted carbon fiber wheels, a touch unique to Ford GT, as well as an exposed carbon fiber front splitter, side sills, mirror stalks, engine louvers and rear diffuser finished in gloss. Brembo® brake calipers lacquered in silver with black graphics, plus black lug nuts further modernize the aesthetic. Carbon fiber carries into the cabin as well, with carbon fiber door sills, lower A-pillars and console, along with matte carbon fiber registers. Lightspeed Blue Alcantara®-wrapped carbon fiber seats feature silver stitching, while seating surfaces and head restraints are embossed with the GT logo. The instrument panel is wrapped in Ebony leather and Lightspeed Blue Alcantara, while pillars and headliner are wrapped in Ebony Alcantara. Antimatter Blue appliqués on the instrument panel, door register bezels and seat X-brace are coordinated with the unique wheels. The steering wheel is finished in Ebony Alcantara with black stitching, while dual-clutch paddle shifters are clear and polished. “There are a lot of milestone moments in the history of Ford GT that we’ve celebrated, but the team was unanimous in believing the original prototype was the right vehicle this time around,” Severson said. “That 1964 prototype unleashed the creative genius of the Ford Advanced Vehicles team and paved the way for the Ford GT program. It put all of this in motion.” Ford did state the following about the original Ford GT chassis with this information: Chassis GT/101 and GT/102 were scrapped after Le Mans and Monza crash testing, but were critical to the significant improvements that went into GT/103, GT/104 and GT/105. FT/103 Won Daytona 1965 with Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby behind the wheel, GT/104 placed third with Bob Bondurant and Ritchie Ginther driving. GT/103 and GT/104 have been repainted and are on exclusive display at the Shelby Museum in Boulder, Colorado. The Ford GT Heritage Edition for the 2022 production year has a new 21st Century high tech wing to improve down force. Per the press release, the 2022 Ford GT 1964 Heritage Edition is the next in the ultra-limited-production series that includes the following: 2021 Ford GT ’66 Daytona Heritage Edition Honoring the Ford GT MK II No. 98 race car In production 2020 Ford GT ’69 Gulf Livery Heritage Edition Honoring the Ford GT40 MK I No. 6 race car that was victorious at 1969 Le Mans Only 50 built 2019 Ford GT ’68 Gulf Livery Heritage Edition Honoring Ford GT40 MK I No. 9 race car that was victorious at 1968 Le Mans Only 50 built 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition Honoring Ford GT40 MK IV No. 1 race car that was victorious at Le Mans in 1967 Only 39 built 2017 Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition Honoring Ford GT40 MK II No. 2 that Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove at 1966 Le Mans Only 27 built 2006 Ford GT Gulf Livery Heritage Edition Commemorating GT40’s back-to-back 24 Hours of Le Mans titles in 1968 and 1969 Only 343 built The 2022 Ford GT is available to order for approved Ford GT customers. Um, not a fan boy, have had and still own other brands including my 1999 Dodge Durango. Toyota even in their so called full size Sequoia just reeks of cheapness and I honestly do not fit comfortably in it and no one can sit behind me unlike my Escalade which is a requirement. Yes, I get that many people buy what they like, but if you also think of the comfort of others then Toyota would never be on the list as it does not fit large Americans at all comfortably. The interiors are cheapness on par with GM though lately GM interiors have been improving vastly over Toyota. I could go on but that is just the start of where I would avoid Toyota on top of their hate for BEVs and wanting to push for unsustainable Hydrogen auto's.

Audi News: Audi to Show off 2 Door Auto BEV Love at Pebble Beach
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Audi
This is from the Audi California Design Studio. Audi has built more of their concept cars and crossovers than Mercedes-Benz has. Your last statement sentence is a truth about MB. I do agree with you that the car looks cool. Kinda think the rear end reminds me of a Pontiac sports car. -
Sure as hell not the Lemming Leader Toyota! ?

Audi today is celebrating the Celebration of Progress: the Audi skysphere concept unveiled today. A redefined Grand Touring BEV. For many, even on the Cheers and Gears forum we have discussed the future of two door cars and weather or not we will see them continue to die off. Some have even said styling has been lost to appliance trucks and SUVs/CUVs. Audi today is challenging that with the Skysphere battery electric concept. Audi says this is the first member of a family of all new concept vehicles, a spectacular roadster. Audi skysphere concept is the name of the electric-powered, two-door convertible whose lines lead directly to the Audi design of tomorrow. Progressive Luxury is what Audi believes they will represent as the 21st century auto's of desire. The skysphere comes with two driving modes, Grand Touring and Sports mode. Grand Touring is a take back to the 1930's tuned for long drives on country roads. Sports mode gives an aggressive tune with tight handling and a more commanding and connected presence for the driver. Being that the Skysphere will be shown off with more details at the Pebble Beach Golf Course show, it is understandable that the front end has a rather large FRUNK. How large, large enough to handle two full size fully loaded golf bags. The Skysphere has a modifiable wheelbase that in touring mode is 201 inches long and it shrinks to 191 inches long in Sports mode. The weight distribution of this BEV is a 40/60 front to back ratio. The car will go 0 to 62 mph in 4 seconds and has 623HP with a curb weight of 3,968 lbs. Battery pack is good for 310 miles. The interior is a 21st touch of luxury. Many more images & Videos can be viewed here: Audi skysphere concept (2021) | Audi MediaCenter (audi-mediacenter.com) The future is freedom to enjoy what one wants in the auto of their choice and for Audi, that starts with the Skysphere. 1109003_amtv-content1080p-web.mp4 View full article
