  1. Like @Drew Dowdell with his Bently Turbo R obsession, I have also as most of you already know have bought my last V8 auto. I am having a very Healthy Obsession with these two beauties! Yes I realize that to many this beautiful cars appreciation thread is about past auto's, but I have to say that the future is looking AWESOME to me! ?

  3. @USA-1 Valid question, not being political, just being honest one college educated man to another. As a college educated man, how do you not use the analytical skills we learn to assess, review and consider all points of views about science/medicine? I accept your choice to not get vaccinated, but I do not understand how one can review the data and understand the pro's and cons. Were you not vaccinated as a kid growing up in Oregon like all the other school kids? As an Engineer, I totally get the fact that we can work numbers many different ways to get various results, but if you truly believe in yourself to build the best product, then an objective review of the data allows us to see where the pro's and con's lay and why we would build one way or another. As more data comes in a clearer picture shows up, yet with that said, today's computers allow us to run many simulations and the data has been far more accurate than we had with Polio, Mumps, Measles, etc. Vaccination is important to the human race and allowing infections to happen where we can minimize the affects and loss of life via medicine seems to be natural to me. So have you reviewed the data from so many various medical sites in coming to your stated view? Which sites are you basing your view on?
  4. Very Cool news, the Very FIRST Hummer EV Truck sold on March 27th at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction for $2.5 million. The auction house waved all fees, the full amount will go to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation that builds special need homes for first responders who were injured in 9/11. Very cool indeed. GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 Raises $2.5 Million for Tunnel to Towers Foundation at Barrett-Jackson Auction Additional info GM released today about the HUMMER EV SUV. 2024 GMC HUMMER EV SUV Offers New Tactical Tech Additional highlights: Interdependent body/battery structure that supports a unique, double-stacked battery pack An available three-motor Ultium Drive system that delivers up to 830 horsepower and up to 11,500 lb-ft of torque — enough power for super-fast 0-60-mph sprints in approximately 3.5 seconds with available Watts To Freedom5 (based on GM estimates) New satellite-rendered trail mapping power allows drivers to discover and navigate off-road trails, while monitoring their vehicle’s energy consumption in real time, with community-based energy forecast through their myGMC app1 New available Power Station generator2 that enables 19.2kW AC charging, generator functionality (120v/25A/3kW) and ability to charge other EVs (240v/25A/6kW) Great degree of customization via buttons on the center stack, and nearly 200 accessories will be available for HUMMER EV Master of maneuverability, with nearly 9-inch less wheelbase than HUMMER EV Pickup, giving it expected best-in-class off-road proportions, with greater departure and breakover angles and a tighter turning circle of only 35.4 feet (10.8 meters) with 4 Wheel Steer An immersive experience that puts the driver at the center of every moment, including customizable user experience features and an open-air driving experience, with the standard Infinity Roof with removable Sky Panels and I-Bar GMC-HUMMER-EV-BodyStr.mp4 GMC-HUMMER-EV-Color-Change.mp4 GMC-HUMMER-EV-Short-Wheelbase.mp4 GMC-HUMMER-EV-CrabWalk.mp4 GMC-HUMMER-EV-Turning-Radius.mp4 I have to say I can actually see the Crab Walk mode and the Tight Turning radius as big advantages especially in the city. 5. Some good info on the Hummer SUV. https://www.motortrend.com/651d84cf-ac24-4c26-a0cf-fe8b6874e1e6 Wish GM had these on youtube, but this is a good detail on the SUV. Some good Info GM is releasing on comparison.
  6. I like that we are starting to see comparisons write ups of EV. To me I really like both trucks. GMC Hummer EV Vs Rivian R1T: Which One Is A Better Electric Truck? (fossbytes.com) Putting the GMC Hummer EV SUV’s 11,500 LB-FT of Torque in Perspective—It’s Actually a Lot Less (motortrend.com)
  7. Vaccination is important and I believe most of us realize that and understand the common sense approach. Course we get the news where it says 52% of Healthcare workers are vaccinated. Almost half of all health care workers in U.S. haven't had COVID-19 vaccine, survey shows - CBS News Interesting is that Religion / Politics are the two main reasons for those refusing to get vaccinated. Yet then from the State of Texas, Houston news reports on Hospital vaccination of Healthcare workers and you see considerable numbers getting it. Exclusive Poll: Hospital Healthcare Workers and COVID-19 Vaccine Rates (click2houston.com) Which has the poll of the local hospitals there and they are averaging 75% vaccinated workers and growing. https://infogram.com/exclusive-poll-hospital-healthcare-workers-and-covid-19-vaccine-rates-1h7k230l91j8g2x Even when we look at the CDC for resources for healthcare workers we see the same info provided that the New England Journal of Medicine reports. Immunization Schedules: Resources for Healthcare Providers | CDC Sad the number of people who have lost their lives trying to save so many. CDC COVID Data Tracker So much good info that if you read it with common sense, one should be able to get the benefits that out weight the risks for everyone, not just healthcare professionals. Vaccines and Immunizations: For Healthcare Professionals | CDC As of April 1st, here is where my state stands: Vaccination rates in Washington state (msn.com) Interesting is that the most educated sections of Washington state are also the highest vaccination rates. COVID-19 Data Dashboard :: Washington State Department of Health Sadest part is that we have way to much wasted vaccination doses due to leaving it up to hospitals and vaccination sites if they want to have a wait list or not. Places that run wait lists have 100% usage of all thawed vaccinations. Almost 18% of the doses here are wasted which is very sad. I can honestly say that my first show of Pfizer I and my wife had no issues. Second Booster shot, I again had no real side affects, was tired and slept solid for the night. Wife had a bump on her arm at the injection site and slept 12hrs, but again no side affects. My middle sister due to having 3 generations in her household got her pfizer shots earlier than my wife and I and her husband had zero issues for both shots, daughter had some mild side affects and my sister was down for 3 days but then was fine. So vaccination can affect people very differently. Interesting is that the data is showing which blood types tend to be more affected than others. Good info on Blood Types and Covid-19. Blood type and COVID-19? | MIT Medical The Link Between Blood Type and COVID-19 Risk, Explained | Health.com I think this is a perfect visual of vaccination versus not. Q: What’s the best COVID-19 vaccine? | MIT Medical
  8. To them that is not considered stylish or fashionable. Italian auto's have failed as they have always worried more about the fashion industry than peoples need for stylish, common sense transportation. IMHO.
  9. Please post the actual links of where you are getting these so called facts on people who are vaccinated are getting sick with Covid-19? Currently if you never had Covid-19 and get vaccinated, there has been no reported cases of infection except by deceptive news outlets that have not given any actual scientific facts on this. Myths and Facts about COVID-19 Vaccines | CDC Current data is showing that J&J effectiveness is only 66%. Information About Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine | CDC What You Need to Know About the Johnson & Johnson Vaccine - COVID-19 - Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (jhsph.edu) Plenty of factual real science data from John Hopkins on the facts, not myths or news slander on vaccination. Vaccines - Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center (jhu.edu) COVID-19 Vaccination Information and Updates (hopkinsmedicine.org) COVID-19 Vaccines: Myth Versus Fact | Johns Hopkins Medicine If you do not want to have any faith or trust in US based science, there is also Oxford University. Oxford coronavirus vaccine shows sustained protection of 76% during the 3-month interval until the second dose | University of Oxford COVID-19 vaccines | Vaccine Knowledge (ox.ac.uk) End result is I work with Oxford, JH and CDC daily since they use the storage product I support and I listen in on the daily concalls and the research and work being done. The vaccines are far safer than the Hyper Boll scare tactics used by news outlets, religion and other groups that hope to cause problems by fear. You have a higher chance of death not being vaccinated than you do being vaccinated. If you spend time reading the science you will see this. Your choice and I will respect it, I hope you will change your mind and see the benefits outweigh the risks as nothing is perfect, but it is your choice. Common sense is not so common sadly. The CDC/FDA is wanting masks and social distance till we get everyone vaccinated to help with slowing down the spread of a very dangerous and deadly virus. Spring break in Florida is showing just how crazy the lack of respect is causing. Wishing you all the best to be safe.
  10. Totally agree, I think pretty much all of us figured a closed in bed area. I do very much like the looks of this better than the truck and I think it is the more finished look at the back due to being an SUV over the truck. I will say that I like this interior color combo much better than the Nasa First Edition black and white color combo they did. Over all, both the truck and SUV are so much better than the looks of Tesla. Glad that the spare tire is on the rear of the SUV rather than under it or inside like they did on the 90's suburban. Per the Press Release: Expected best-in-class off-road proportions will help make the new SUV maneuverable, while also making the most of the HUMMER EV’s available signature features such as CrabWalk, Extract Mode and more. The SUV’s look remains rugged and includes a new rear design with mounted full-size spare tire. Inside, a similar five-passenger layout from the pickup remains and includes a large and useful rear cargo area. Additional highlights: Master of maneuverability, with a 126.7-inch wheelbase giving it expected best-in-class off-road proportions with impressive departure and breakover angles, and a tighter turning circle of only 35.4 feet (10.8 meters) with 4 Wheel Steer standard on 2X, 3X and Edition 1 An immersive interior puts the driver at the center of every moment, including customizable, multisensory user features and an open driving experience with the standard Infinity Roof with removable Sky Panels, I-Bar and rear drop glass GM’s Ultium Drive System offers up to 830 horsepower and up to 11,500 lb-ft of torque (GM estimated) — enough power for super-fast 0-60-mph sprints in approximately 3.5 seconds with Watts To Freedom3 New tactical technology via the redesigned myGMC app4 including Energy Assist Great degree of customization via My Mode, auxiliary buttons and nearly 200 accessories available at launch Next-gen electric, with a 20-module Ultium battery system offering up to a GM estimated 300-plus miles of range5 on Edition 1 (with standard equipment) Additionally, all HUMMER EV SUV models feature the enhanced version of Super Cruise6, an available driver-assistance technology offering hands-free driving on more than 200,000 miles (approximately 322,000 km) of enabled roads, and a new automatic lane changing feature, where the system can determine when a lane change is optimal and initiate the maneuver, while following signaling protocols. Pricing and Production When production begins in early 2023, the HUMMER EV SUV Edition 1 will have a starting MSRP of $105,5957 (including DFC). When equipped with the available Extreme Off-Road Package, the starting price will be $110,5957 (including DFC). Interesting that the 1st Edition SUV does not get the 1,000 HP like the Truck. Bet if you can get your hands on the code, you could flash the SUV to the same performance as the Truck. Interesting ? More information and reservation details are available at www.gmc.com/HummerEV, and additional details on new HUMMER EV SUV features will be published on Monday, April 5. We'll be interesting to see what additional information they release on Monday.

  13. In the stock market world, it seems 3% is a huge number and Bloomberg, CNN, Reuters all seem to be using terms like that today about Tesla Q1. Call it crazy or not, but 3% versus hit their numbers is a big deal. Course I see blew up as an appropriate term for Dell where the over all industry for 2020 was down 8% in hardware tech sales and Dell had a 15.6% gain for the year, so I would say they blew up their estimation guidance.
  14. Possible any oxygen sensor on your truck or other electric sensor that could be getting flakey? Just in the last couple of weeks, one of the oxygen sensors on the SS causes the light to trip, read the computer and it is the same sensor, works, then does not, then works. Gonna plan to replace them as I am at 160K miles now.
  15. Tesla blew past analysts estimates of 177,000 EV Deliveries for Q1 of 2021. Tesla had 180,338 EVs produced and delivered 184,800 EVs representing a 110% year over year increase in auto production. Only a few Model S & X of the old model were delivered during this time as the production line was shut down for Q1 to tool for the new Model S & X models that will start production soon. Model 3 & Y production grew by 10% and deliveries by 14% during this quarter. Charged EVs | Tesla Q1 deliveries blow past forecasts, set new record - Charged EVs Volkswagen and BP have announced a partnership that will see 70,000 Fast chargepoint charging stations to be installed across Europe between now and 2030. 16. Science constantly evolves and without testing, vaccination, etc. we would still have today Polio, Chicken Pox, Measles, Mumps, etc., etc., etc.. Common sense tells me that as more and more data comes in that the leaders of smart medical groups including our own CDC will adjust recommendations and guidance on how we approach and deal with this. 1918 Influenza, AKA Flu killed many before vaccination started to come out and history shows yearly updates of vaccination happened well into the following decades before the planet reached herd immunity and deaths started to decline to a more controllable level. History shows how we have dealt with pandemics and medicine is on our side for keeping the bulk of society healthy and alive. Past Pandemics | Pandemic Influenza (Flu) | CDC 1918 Pandemic (H1N1 virus) | Pandemic Influenza (Flu) | CDC 1957-1958 Pandemic (H2N2 virus) | Pandemic Influenza (Flu) | CDC 1968 Pandemic (H3N2 virus) | Pandemic Influenza (Flu) | CDC 2009 H1N1 Pandemic (H1N1pdm09 virus) | Pandemic Influenza (Flu) | CDC Nothing is perfect, but I for one believe that the Good of the Many outweigh the Good of the Few. Vaccination is a choice, but I would rather have everyone vaccinated keeping us with a delightful multi-cultural world than one that destroys humans with certain blood types or medical conditions just cause someone is uncomfortable with vaccination.
  17. Better Safe than sick! Have a healthy safe weekend my friend.
  18. Hot We happily Multi-Cultural here!
  19. Yes it was for the Q1, but the ID.4 only started shipping mid March, so that figure was for a single month only. Bigger yet is looking at the global picture rather than just the US which this is about and for that VW is on track to sell 1 million EVs by the end of 2023 per their own info. 2019 (Full Year) Global: Volkswagen Electric Car Sales Worldwide - Car Sales Statistics (best-selling-cars.com) For 2020 only, VW was almost equal to half of Tesla in EV sales. 231,600 sold and delivered in 2020 globally. VW Group sold almost half as many EVs as Tesla in 2020, and it's just getting warmed up (motorauthority.com) Both Audi and VW have more models coming which will only help to increase those sales as to why they believe by the end of 2023 they will have 1 million in EV sales and 1.5 million in EV sales by the end of 2025. VW Executive mgmt. has stated they expect global auto sales of between 6% to 8% for 2021 being equal to Tesla in EV sales a big increase from the 3% they had in 2020. As per the Bloomberg story, VW sold 9.3 million auto's globally in 2020 and if they remain flat in sales but have 8% of the 9.3 million auto's sold be EV that is 745,000 EVs. Tesla sold almost 500,000 EVs in 2020 and is projecting a 50% increase in EV sales for 2021 or 750,000 EVs sold. As you have stated, a company can only sell at a loss for so long before they get pinched by the Legacy OEMs and this year could be a bit of hurt on Tesla by VW. VW sold more EV's in 2020 in Europe than Tesla, so VW is positioned to truly make a big change in the auto industry. The next 3 quarters of ID sales will be telling here in the US and especially as Ford and GM ramp up their EV production. VW’s EV Sales Target Suggests Tesla Gap Could Close This Year - Bloomberg While the US is slow to catch up compared to the rest of the world EVs are catching on as more and more countries support the change over to EVs. 2020 had 3.2 million EVs sold globally. EV-Volumes - The Electric Vehicle World Sales Database (ev-volumes.com) The US is no longer the Leader in Auto tech / auto production / sales. We need to get production of critical parts back in the US and then move forward with the auto tech revolution.
