Industry News: Apple Unveils CarPlay Integration
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
The aftermarket stereo system seems pretty dead to me Right now, I stopped by Car Toys who is a reseller for auto audio and cell phones and while a huge selection of system, I will say most of them are really dated compared to what current computers and smartphones are doing. I think this segment would be wise to move to smart stereo's now allowing people to get an Android Nav stereo system that could use local wifi or satellite uplink to stay current. -
While I have not been a fan for the pure electric play of auto's as they really are more focused on inner city driving, I have allot of respect for what Tesla has been doing and that this Billionaire is working to push more than anyone else or company the electric solution. Yes I think the CNG is a far superior middle step off pure petrol only and we will eventually get to the day when electric will offer a 500 to 1000 mile range for nice road trips, I think an investigation needs to be done into the specific people working to block a better way of buying auto's. This smells of Back Alley payments to keep the existing caste system in place. These laws go against what the Capitalist system and what democracy are all about. Like Drew, this is a Farce against the system. Let the existing dealers compete rather than cry about having someone come up with a better way to sell a product due to technology.

Input on new tires for my '08 Pontiac G6
G. David Felt replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Product Questions and Reviews
I have to say I am surprised by the rating on Good Years. I stay away from them. Where I get long mileage out of Bridgestone, Michelin and BF Goodrich, Good years always wear out early and are very noisy especially on cement. They just squeal like a pig to slaughter. -
I Like your thinking, that would make for some exciting small micro city cars that GM could really lead on.

I know of many friends in the NE that are looking at AWD to replace FWD and RWD auto's as they woud rather give up a little fuel economy for the added traction for the winters. I think GM could lead and would have a solid rate take for an AWD Camero.
-
I admit I did forget about the FWD need for their own special transmissions. I think it is an interesting thought about what you could do and the V2 could allow some interesting designs that larger motors could not offer.

Mercedez Benz News Rumorpile: An Electric S-Class?
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Mercedes-Benz
I really do not expect battery life to improve much for the next 20 years. Lots of research but the over all costs kill it for some of the new battery tech. They will find a way but not in the next 10+ years so that battery could truly replace the gas powered auto. -
Input on new tires for my '08 Pontiac G6

I recommend going to Costco, price is hard to beat and look at the Bridgestone as a solid option. I love Michelin, but it really depends on the auto. I found for FWD, Michelin's that should go 70K get only about 50-60K yet on RWD and AWD they last way longer than the mileage warranty. My sister has the Bridgestone on her Mazda 6 and they lasted the expected length of time and handled well all the way up to when she traded it in. -
I agree with Drew that no one else is doing this is not good enough plus someone already does do this. STI / WRX - Yes I realize they are 4 door compared to Camero 2 door. An AWD Camero would allow GM to pull from the folks that want Performance with AWD for a more versatile ride. I think GM could really take this segment if they went to Alpha and added AWD.

2015 Chevrolet Colorado Saves Weight, But Is it Enough?
G. David Felt replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in Chevrolet
Agree Drew +1 -
Just proves personal taste is a fickle thing. I thought the last update on the trucks and SUV's went to Chevy and now the new release of the SUV's and Trucks clearly goes to GMC. Yes there have had consistent design elements, but they tend to go from one extreme on the left to the right. IMHO they have not found the solid center yet, but this might be it from my point of few.

I actually think the AWD option on a Camero would be very popular and allow a ton of growth of more powerful engines with better power to the pavement performance.

That one doesn't existe anymore If not a Buick (and really... why not?) I'd do it as a Chevrolet. The problem is that the Astra's interior design is the same as the Verano's, so... They could try... but I think they need to work on the sport side of their image a bit more. Start with the Adam first. Still think Buick would be a better plce for the car... Re the Adam, IDK... Adam is more youthful than sporty (except for the new Adam S)... Something a little more outrageous like this Astra to get attention and a couple months later introduce the Astra GTC range as the Buick Astra, maybe?... While I Doubt this would happen as GM like all other auto companies seem to be gun shy, I believe ZL-1 has hit it right on. GM Needs to shock everyone with a auto like this for the Buick market here that would drive middle age and young people into buy the car and show a rebellious side to Buick. This is what Buick needs to jump their image back into the main stream.

While Windows 8 was ugly, I do like much better 8.1 I am interested in windows 9 and what that will be like.
-
Nope, do not do it. I know your itching to get a new ride, but wait for the Canyon / Colorado trucks, you will love the Diesel powered trucks more than the full size.
-
Right now GMC are the best looking full size trucks and SUV's, last version it was the Chevy's. Interesting that both divisions cannot seem to get a good long term design language for their auto's.

Still that is pretty awesome and will get better with age and spring summer roads, aka no snow.

That would crack me up powering a BMW with a GM small block V8!

2QuickZ's "had a redesign in place to address the issue and then killed it for some unknown reason." I would totally agree with your statement, I wonder also. Who got paid off to ignor this.

They could loose the 800lbs if they took off all the Nanny devices and protection crude they require on auto's now. Just think, if you want a real modern muscle car with the lightness of the old original muscle cars, just drop all the junk they have been forced to add rolling back to the basic auto of the late 60's early 70's and you would have a New Rocket.
