  1. Please take pictures, that would be very cool. Sadly I think this will still be a black eye for Jeep as people know they have been having issues with the AWD/4x4 system working with the new 9 spd tranny and V6 engine. I hope I am wrong and they truly have it working well, but I can see Consumers Reports blasting the first year Release of the Cherokee and it having an affect on sales.
  2. Did they have a temp seat installed for driving it off the assembly line?
  3. Bummer you will not buy from GM, you are missing out on some amazing auto's.
  4. I have to disagree, if you drop it that much you have a station wagon at car ride height. CUV's should ride higher than cars.
  5. Wonder how the Gov Stock Loss plays with their IRS filling?
  6. Nope but I do agree that it is a shift in life style use and the day of the Ute is numbered. In talking with people here in the northwest, a car type pickup with only seating for 2 or 3 with a bench seat is not really desired. Truly a niche auto for a small group of people. Crew cab mid size trucks are what most people want.
  7. Interesting to see the people vent about how GM is screwing up Caddy with this CUV. I think people need to wait and see what GM brings to the table as lately they have done very well and have learned that a re-badge is a failure. I think the CUV will be very different than anything else they have ever done on this same platform.
  8. I fall into the same camp as Drew. I have custom rims on all my SUV's and have no problem keeping them clean. Yet with that said, I can see those that love to customize their auto's using this to customize their rims or as Drew pointed out, winterizing their rims against road salt damage. Some very valid use cases for this product. Good Luck. Follow up Use cases: Personal customization of rims to match auto. Winter Mode protection for states with heavy road salt use. Business use where building a marketing theme to push a product. Seasonal wraps to match the current hot fashion trends of color and design. Fleet standardization where buying slashed priced trucks or SUV's but wanting a consistent color, cheaper to wrap the auto than repaint it. List can go on but I see why your company would come out with this, some very valid reasons.
  9. 99 Durango tricked out with neon lights everywhere. Looks like it was driving on a cloud of fire as the underside of the car was all red. Headlights also glowed a bit red even while on. From what I have learned online, guess they drill their headlamps and insert the desired color LED to show in the light and give it this color hue. Very interesting and weird at the same time.
  10. While this was not unexpected, I was hoping that they would have held onto their shares longer to at least break even. Here is to hoping. For those that think we should have not done this at all, the worst thing would have been to stand by and do nothing and have a far worse price tag on our country.
  11. Coal has a bright future in this country as an export to China. China is where we were 40 years ago.
  12. I agree with you Ocnblu, it seems todays auto's have pathetic backup lights. I have added rear flood lights to every auto I own now so that when you go into reverse you get a nice bright flood of light to see where you are going. Watch it with those wimpy backup lights as I have seen more than one person get rear ended.
  13. Why could Buick not have a Performance Option on their form and have Pontiac Versions of select auto's? I feel GMC should have a Hummer Option for ultimate off road 4x4 also.
  14. I have to say that while I know this CUV will be successful for them and the fit and finish looks solid, I do not like the look. Very plain, generic and just jelly bean shape ugly. The interior will appeal to those that like a plain simplistic dash and layout in my opinion. Great Write up Bill, nice job.
  15. I thought a lot of help from Isuzu. From what I heard, GM went to them and said make us a diesel that is strongest in class at the time, Quiet as a gas engine and reliable with minimal soot exhaust. I also thought that the 4 banger little duramax engines were also based on input and help from Isuzu. I would think GM could do better with Isuzu than with Motori. I agree with Drew that the purchase price seems very cheap and wonder how much was lost in this sale?
  16. Interesting Tinted Fog lites on the Ram Truck. The 500L is ugly as heck to me but I can see it selling as a cheap commuter car. Be interesting to see how long they last in the real world. The Jeep is pretty sweet ride and the 300C is just lovely. Reminds me of the one they had on display at the Seattle AutoShow. 00C.jpg]
  17. agree, I do like the more open room of these new taxis. Thought the over all layout was nice and roomy considering that taxis have not really changed much in the last 20 years.
  18. So while NYC Appeals this ruling, they did start selling and using these new taxi's of tomorrow. Here are pictures of them. Much better than old taxis. http://autos.yahoo.com/photos/taking-a-ride-in-new-york-city-s-taxi-of-tomorrow-1374184650-slideshow/
  19. So according to the EPA and their goals, 2040 all coal plants are to be gone replaced by Natural Gas, Nuclear or alternative energy such as Solar, wind, etc. http://www.eia.gov/forecasts/aeo/er/early_elecgen.cfm May of this year Natural Gas Power Plants surpassed Coal as King on our way to cleaner energy. http://www.npr.org/2013/03/01/173258342/natural-gas-dethrones-king-coal-as-power-companies-look-to-future Big question is what will this do for Natural Gas rates and will we end up with deregulation like oil that allowed speculation to run up prices?
  20. Interesting how Yahoo publishes their story titled The 10 least reliable cars http://autos.yahoo.com/news/the-10-least-reliable-cars-181031192.html Least reliable vehicles, listed in order of Ratings score starting with the worst score. 1. Ford C-MAX Energi (Plug-in Hybrid)* 2. Ford Escape (1.6L Ecoboost)* 3. Mini Cooper Countryman 4. Ford C-Max Hybrid 5. Nissan Pathfinder* 6. Volkswagen Beetle 7. Cadillac XTS* 8. Ford Explorer (V6, 4WD) 9. Hyundai Genesis Coupe* 10. Ford Taurus (turbo)* I know they love to use the asterisk to dictate new model year, only 1 year of info. Yet I feel this is really an unfair beating on a New model car since they really do not have enough to make their ASSumptions in regards to if the auto will be reliable or not.
  21. agree, Coal is coming to an end. Natural Gas is the big wave of electrical production, plus the new CNG auto's that are here now and coming.
  22. This will be interesting as a new battle begins with low cost luxury line of auto's.
  23. Traditional Consumer Reports Spin proving their love affair is still strong with Asian Auto's after throwing a well deserved bone to American cars and then pummeling them in the reviews again.
