LA Auto Show: Subaru WRX Leaked: Comments

Interesting, I like the bulging wheel wells, but the coupe look is so dated and old. The front end styling is very conservative. Not a fan of the front end at all.- 4 replies

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - CheersandGears.com Gaining little attention in the main stream news but giving a nice bump in stock price to Chrysler, GM, Honda, Fiat and a few energy companies. Chrysler showed off a new RAM 2500 that had a pair of CNG tanks that are in the shape of lungs storing CNG in many different compartments. The new tank design in the RAM truck gave it a 255 mile range on CNG. With the 35Gallon Petrol tank, this now gives the RAM Bi-Fuel Truck a 745 mile range when configured in Bi-Fuel form from RAM. The longest range currently available from an OEM for a CNG/Petrol Truck. The idea is it would allow the ease of making various shapes for CNG fuel holding with increased storage removing the limitations on traditional CNG tanks. Full story here: http://www.autonews.com/article/20131112/OEM04/131119977/chrysler-mimics-human-lung-to-broaden-cng-use#axzz2kYb3krjY Thoughts? What do you think, will this help speed up adoption of CNG?

Honda News: Honda Joins The Turbocharging Party
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Honda
For all the Money Honda put into F1 racing, I sure do not see a payback in terms of translating that technology into current selling auto's. I agree with your list Drew, I wonder if they will use TT on any of these engines as Performance engines? -
5 Reasons Why You Should Switch to CNG!
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
IMHO, yeah, can be. Its sure a clean fuel that the engine will run longer. I have one of the kits and its pretty simple. I never used it because I didn't locate a decent tank... and back then, refilling stations where nonexistent. I bought it because in NJ you can forgo emissions if you have an alternative fueled car. Every so often, you find the old kits popping up on eBay. Usually removed from a western vehicle undergoing restoration that no longer needs the kit. I just like big old boats... If I were to win the Powerball some day, my first stop is not going to be the Cadillac dealership, but Ebay motors. I'd love to have some of the mid to late 80s Detroit iron, but power it with natural gas instead of gasoline. Totally agree with you Drew that the old Iron is awesome, one reason of what I am doing with 94 GMC SLE Suburban. Big, Roomy and looks great even now 20+ years later. -
Money seems to always be the key element, some will probably say the carbon fiber is too expensive but I suspect Oil companies are more than willing to pay auto companies to keep certain technologies off the street to maintain their monopoly on our pocket books. This is why we need to shake things up by going to CNG, Hybrids (battery plus Generator) versions etc.

10 pieces of awesome automotive furniture
G. David Felt replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
Be cool to have the seats from a hummer or or truck, captain chair made into outdoor chairs for the deck. Fun to also have the bed of an SSR turned into a hot tub or cooling tub based on the season of the year. -
Marketing Spin, this man is all about Marketing Spin and is looking at the potential for a silver lining of his car is so safe regardless of it burning down around your feet, everyone will want one. Wait and see, it is a 50/50 gamble that might or might not pay off.

Biggest one day stock drop due to auto Fire in Seattle Suburb
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
The CEO knows how to Spin for Marketing Positive press. He believes this investigation will clear his company proving it to be the safest car out there. Personally, they should investigate the toxic waste of the electrical system and batteries as I do not see much options for cleaning up the toxic sludge from production of these all electric auto's. Many a settlement pond of letting the toxin sit for future time to be addressed. -
LA Auto Show: Audi A3 Sedan Gets 4G LTE: Comments

Why do I see this as a waste of technology in a car that will not get used! Guess those that want to be Paris Hilton will probably use this, but then they are not into driving anyway. -
Nissan News: Revealed: 2015 Nissan GT-R and GT-R NISMO
G. David Felt replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Nissan
WOW, the interior is nice granted that and I do like the Nismo version over the regular GT-R. With that said, this car lacks soul / passion. They lost something from the R34/35 to this and then the name also, People Loved Skyline based on the games and the real car being sold in Japan and Europe, this is just so Sterile and to a certain extent bland in style. -
Weird, but this picture being so clear and close up, the headlight look just like the Honda RidgeLine. Shame, wish it was truly more Chevy Unique.

Dodge News: Rumorpile: Dodge Dart Coming With A V6
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
Amazing, Car Pros is advertising Dodge Darts with 2000 factory cash and 2002 dealer cash, $12,988 + tax and license for a new Dart with 6sp manual. http://www.carproschryslerjeepdodgeram.com/new-inventory/index.htm?SByear=clear&SBmake=Dodge&SBmodel=Dart&SBbodystyle=clear&SBprice=clear They also started advertising Elantra's new 2013 blow out for $10,988. Crazy the blow out prices this year I am seeing on new auto's. Not good for residuals. -
LA Auto Show: The 2014 MINI Cooper Grows: Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in LA Auto Show
I wonder how long before the purist complain about the growth in size. Course all you have to do is look at Fiat for that failure, trying to grow a business based on 1 model with lots of options but no other size and it was a failure. I think for Mini, this will help them grow and get more customers, just not sure who it will cannibalize. -
From what I see in the news here that is covering this guy, the politicians are trying to remove him, sadly no one ever thought they needed the process or laws to allow for removal from office piss poor people voted in. Course the local peeps deserve what they get as they knew he had a criminal record and still they voted this idiot into office.

What surprises me is the 41' turning radius. That just sucks, why can't GM make a small truck with a tight Turning radius? My Trailblazer SS AWD has a better turning radius.

5 Reasons Why You Should Switch to CNG!
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
Yes and No, If you have a classic car with a big block V8 and you are not worried about how much Horsepower you have like in a classic Corvette, Camero, Muscle car, but instead you have a classic Caprice with a V8 and you like to cruise, then yes, the much lower cost of fuel with the small decrease in MPG, HP and Torque makes this a great way to go for driving around. Most people do not miss the 10 - 15% decrease. Performance driven folks would so you would want to either convert to pure Fuel Injection or leave it as is on petrol. Today we have many various auto's that people love, they are not what you would call a collectors or classic model worth large dollars on the auction stand, but they hold sentimental value to their owners, are in various stages of shape that still have many years left of good use. So one willing to invest 3-6K dollars on converting to CNG and driving on cheap cleaner fuel versus traditional prices of petrol can make a large difference. My 94 GMC SLE suburban is a perfect example. Yes it is very clean, but it is not what I call a collectors. I love the interior layout, the space and the way it drives when I go for long drives or camping. So with the built motor that requires premium, why not convert it to CNG, run on high octane low cost fuel and enjoy it. In my case, I have decided I will replace the Fuel Injected Throttle body carb setup with an actual true Fuel Injection top end to preserve the HP and Torque I know it will never get great MPG, but then I love my burb and it is all paid for, so why spend 50K + on a new one when I have what I love already. -
5 Reasons Why You Should Switch to CNG!
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
Yes you can get a kit. Here is a reseller for me on Fuelmaker home fueling appliances who also sells and installs the conversion kits. http://www.premiercngservices.com/Versus-Conversion-Kits.html The versus conversion kits work great on fuel injector cars keeping same MPG, but more HP and Torque, with Carb versions you do loose some MPG, HP and Torque. The bonnet system work by installing between the Carb and the Manifold. You end up having a switch that turns off the gas flow and then allows the CNG to be sprayed into the manifold to be sucked into the pistons and ignition done to power the car. With the carb version you do loose some of the CNG to the normal evaperation process but the majority does go into the motor. This loss is why you loose MPG/HP/Torque. You still need to buy a tank and that is more expensive than the conversion kit. Tanks run from 6 GGE to 42 GGE in size.
