    I would have to say I think this is one of the nicest looking 200's they have ever done. Interior is interesting, not a huge fan but what looks like a nice and great improvement over past versions. I do have to say what gives with the dinky screen on the nav/radio. That is a joke.

    Somewhere I read he left due to his wife having cancer and what would then be clearly a distraction from making VW money. If true, I wish him and his family the best as I also am dealing with my mother that has cancer and it does add stress onto a persons life.

    Nice looking ride but is this not the same style they had 10 years ago as it seems to be very dated.

    Yea not sure why but car diesels seem to have problems firing up in really cold weather compared to truck diesels. Weird, let us know if you figure out what was causing it. I would think it would be covered under warranty.

    I find many references to the Mystery Machine being a VW Van, but then there are just as many postings about the Mystery Machine being at Comic Con and they have had it in the form of GM Van's, Ford Vans and VW Van's. Due to the popularity of the VW vans especially in the 60's to 70's and that many people feel that Shaggy is a user of Weed and Velma is a lesbian, I think many people tend to drift towards the idea that the van was a VW. With that said, I cannot find any clear facts from the creators of the comic series other than when I look at it, it looks like a VW van to me.

    Interesting posted yesterday but dated Feb 14th 2013? Not sure why, but I really like this over what I have seen of the Chevy SS. Clearly something just stirs inside me more than the SS does. Sad as I am an SS man.

    The writing is on the wall and the captain has seen internally that the current functional version of Holden is doomed. Off he runs to a better more secure job and I cannot blame him. I do fee sad for those that will loose their jobs and might have a hard time reinventing themselves to do new forms of work. We have seen this here in the US when we went through our own shuttering of production plants and the forced need for training of new skills so these workers can find a job. Many are able to make the change, but some sadly fall into a new low. Wish there was a better way to make sure 100% of everyone could move onto new equal or better jobs. Yet that is what a free capitalist society is built on. Those that want to improve get better and create a better life. Best wishes to all, I hope many of them start now to re-invent themselves and their skill set before the plant gets closed.

    Sad to hear this as I hate to hear any person loosing a job especially before the holidays. Yet as GM and others have learned here in the US, Labor rates kill the ability to have manufacturing local.

    Well, I'm afraid that I find the current lineup to be quite boring. As for the rest of your post - yes please! I understand to each their own. I feel that you could have some hot auto's. The success of the Terrain should make GMC do a Typhoon edition of it with a turbo'd V6 AWD. I think they should also bring back the Syclone. Same with the Chevy side of the family, I believe you could have some true hot SS models in the new mid size truck and small to mid CUV category. I think Buick should have a performance set of Auto's tied into the Pontiac naming as a Package. I feel that Hummer should have never been a stand alone name plate but a Extreme Off Road Package for Professional Grade trucks & SUV's by GMC.

    For safety you could use bright colors in the Rhino material and coat the inside of the wheel well. This would serve to bring more light into area and make sure they do not get themselves pinched.

    I disagree that GM is boring, plenty of exciting products. I do think they could via the GMC/Buick dealerships have a Performance based set of auto's that could get a Pontiac name.

David Felt Alternative Fuels & Propulsion writer www.CheersandGears.com According to the Frankfurt AFP, ten years after the end of the iconic original beetle, Volkswagen is ending their Type 2 Van on December 20, 2013. This will close a 63 year run for a Van that has seen world history through the eyes of many. To many, the camper van star shines as bright as the original Beetle star shined when production came to a close. The Type 2 -- which shares the Beetle's rear engine and its axles -- started life as a doodle by Dutch car salesman Ben Pon, VW's first car dealer outside Germany, on a visit to the carmaker's plant in Wolfsburg in 1947. VW finally agreed to put it into series production in March 1950. Originally conceived as a cargo transport, it was given the ability to haul people in 1951. The hippie generation of the 60's and 70's gave it cult status with world wide building of the van up to 1979 when Germany stopped production. Production ended in South Africa and mexico over the 80's and 90's leaving sole production to the Brazil plant which produced and shipped the van's world wide. Following the announcement earlier this year to finally halt production, VW launched a special edition, costing 85,000 reais or around 27,000 euros ($37,500). Available to those that could import the van that no longer meets most strict emissions. Despite its demise, the camper van's legend will live on, and it is etched into the collective memory by its appearances in the Scooby-Doo TV series and more recently in the film "Little Miss Sunshine".

    While reading her credentials: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Barra She has been around the whole company so she should have a solid grasp of what it takes to build a quality product. I just hope her days at reducing the number of platforms and bean counting for purchasing of parts does not lead her to go in the direction of reducing costs just to increase profits. That never worked for GM. I hope she brings a passion for quality auto's that strike EXCITEMENT into buyers and fear into the competition. Hope she pushes through the VOLT power train on CUV's and Full size SUV's.

    Nice write up, wish people would realize that America builds Luxury driving machines and not always just drop back to the plastic over rated so called German Driving machines. I noticed that the back seat picture shows the front passenger seat folded forward. It would be great to see the front seat set for a 5'10" guy or better yet 6' tall person and then have a measuring stick to show real leg space from the seat to the back of the front seat. Is it really comfy from a seat width standpoint? I have found more and more center stacks eating up valuable passenger comfort space. What about the trunk? How big, how many full size suitcases would fit in it? Over all very informative and an enjoyable read.

    True, was only time before a strong currency and high cost of basic labor killed manufacturing. Be interesting to see how Holden deals with the negativity. Hopefully the workers will not damage the auto's they make.

    Intersting, I hate the wheels as they are a pain to keep clean. The fender lines make me think they will depart from the Predator grill and go after more of a racing nose to cut the air. Should be interesting. Looks like a tight short overhang.
