GMC News: GMC Might Get Its Own Vehicle In The Future
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in GMC Trucks
I am excited, I hope they bring out a new performance model. GMC could use their own Syclone & Typhoon models again.- 23 replies

Happy B-Day NOS Party like it's 1994.

Let the Speculation Begin. I can see this as a compact luxury class model for the two companies with FWD/AWD options. A competitor for Infiniti to compete against Buick and MB to fight against Cadillac once they have an Encore class version of a CUV.

GMC News: GMC Might Get Its Own Vehicle In The Future
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in GMC Trucks
Devils advocate, is higher grade materials enough to differentiate the Chevy from the GMC? That has always been a question with me. In this case I think it is, but others here will clearly say no it is not enough.- 23 replies

That does make sense SAmadei, I know that after I put on my lift kit and bigger 36" diamater BF Goodrich All terrain tires, $1500 later the tires last but there is higher cost. Most Gen Y cannot afford that yet. Then again, if a Gen Y loves off road or the size, look and feel of a full size truck / SUV then you end up sacrificing something else to have that. I would have to say that many Gen Y young adults have been given pretty much everything due to the growth of the 90's and early 2000's and as such some have an entitlement attitude about what they should get rather than realize that hard work and learning to take care of a beater leads to nicer things down the road and an appreciation for both old and new auto's. I think that the subcompact and compact auto's plus the need for Mini Trucks that would allow Gen Y to own a inexpensive truck or car and customize it is needed in this market. I BELIEVE that a Marketing Case can be made to have a Mini Truck that sells for 12-15K dollars and many inner city people would buy them plus young adults just starting out. I BELIEVE that the auto industry has lost site of the need for inexpensive entry level auto's. This needs to start by making the gov realize that you do not need Nanny Electronics on everything, air bags on everything, backup cameras and sensors on everything. The cost of electronic everything is causing this gap of allowing Gen Y to have fixer uppers and entry level auto's. What is wrong with Manual Door Locks and Windows? Regular AM/FM radio with a USB port. I challenge everyone on this thread to put aside their personal feelings and lets DEFINE an Entry level auto that starts in the $10K to $15K dollar range with just basic equipment. Not one of the plain janes of the 70, 80 or 90's that had no radio manual everything including steering. But lets see if we can build a auto that would have the basic needs and meet the bare minimum of the gov regulations. Truck Features Manual Windows Manual Door locks AM/FM Radio with USB port Manual Transmission Front air bags only head rests 4 cylinder engine Monochrome paint job Car Features Manual Windows Manual Door locks AM/FM Radio with USB port Manual Transmission Front air bags only head rest 4 cylinder engine Monochrome paint job So would this do it or are there other considerations that must be made?

wow, did not realize that GM did not have a universal standard speaker connection. Guess I was lucky when I replaced all my speakers on my 94 GMC Suburban as I was able to pull out the existing worn out speakers and put in far better quality speakers I bought from Car Toys here in Lynnwood Washington and pretty much swap them out. My rear door speakers did require me to cut the panel and install the new speaker mounting kit with grill cover but still I just had to unplug the speakers and plug in the existing wire. Same with the speakers in the dash, there I went from the single cone speakers to a 3 way speaker in each corner and of course the sound quality is amazing. I searched also, but do not find any GM OEM speaker harness. But it just dawned on me that maybe the GM direct web sites as there are four companies that sell GM OEM parts. Try these and see if you find what you are looking for. http://www.gmpartsoutlet.net/ http://www.gmpartsnow.com/ http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ https://www.gmpartsonline.net/

Thanks Dodgefan for fixing the link, did not realize it was broken. The video's are very cool. I think GM and pretty much every auto company should have a video like this showing how they make their quality auto's. This does help to sell the auto as a well built with pride auto that you would want to own.

wow to think that just because this is the Cartier edition of the Lincoln Town Car with that amount of damage it would sell for that crazy price is amazing. Talk about a tarnish to a 40 yr selling company. This is NOT the type of car you want advertised for your dealership. Dump it on the used car lot auction.

Dupli-Color Caliper Paint
G. David Felt replied to Rvinyl.com's topic in Product Questions and Reviews
Just noticed that G2 will do any custom paint match of their caliper paint, so I could get a can of matching spray paint to pint the visable areas on the rotors so they look better on top of doing the calipers. Liking this more and more. -
Propane Shortage takes toll on rural America
G. David Felt replied to G. David Felt's topic in Alternative Fuels & Propulsion
Totally agree with you as I had to spend the weekend at my parents since my mom came home from the hospital and had forgotten how lousy it is to cook on an electric stove compared to a gas stove. I feel for those that have to have oil or propane delivery for heating. My research leaves me with a mixed feeling about propane and the restrictions they put on delivery which can hurt people when they have to burn it as a home heating fuel let alone as an auto fuel. I think the inefficiency's in distribution will truly hurt Propane. I hope this also makes the gas companies realize the need to push Natural Gas farther out into the rural communities to serve everyone.- 8 replies

I look forward to it. Various solutions to this have been posted. Rhymed with Blight Zonda Discord. ;-) Incidentally, if you followed my posts about my recently acquired '97 Tahoe 2 door... that is a sub-$1000 purchase. In fact, even with the various minor initial repairs, I haven't gone over $1000 yet. It even got inspected. Perhaps we can watch over the next months and years just how much it costs to maintain... though I am at a disadvantage since its inherently more expensive to repair trucks and because I planned to bring it back to decent shape, instead of just getting by with it. I have to disagree with you about saying that inherently trucks / suv's are more expensive to repair. My 94 GMC Suburban LTE has been an awesome SUV. Yes I am the original owner, but no it has not been expensive to repair. I can say that the cost of maintenance is 25% of the cost for my H2 or Escalade. Also the repairs have been cheap over all and one thing I still love about it over all my newer auto's is how much room under the hood there is to do repairs / tune ups myself. Also the few things that have worn out on the inside, I have repaired myself and again the cost of parts has been cheap. The most expensive repair was the time it took to pull apart the dash when I had to replace the heater fan inside when it died and took out some other electronic parts. Picked up higher quality parts from Napa and spent a weekend doing the repair myself. That thing has a Volcano Furnace now to keep the interior nice and toasty.

In the Midwest and Northeast a shortage of propane gas is impacting millions of homes and businesses in rural areas beyond the reach of utilities. http://www.nbcnews.com/video/nightly-news/54128520/#54128520 The polar vortex has caused price increases over 46% as a second polar vortex hits the midwest and east coast. This hits home for those that feel Propane as an alternative green fuel is causing prices to equal gas if not go higher. As an alternative green fuel that many had turned to in the 80's and 90's and with a cold winter causing homes to consume more propane than is being manufactured, does it make sense that this fuel still be a green alternative? Does it make sense to create a pipe network like Natural Gas to get propane to rural homes and allow for home fueling of propane powered autos? Sound off on how you feel about this green alternative fuel for auto's and homes.

Dupli-Color Caliper Paint
G. David Felt replied to Rvinyl.com's topic in Product Questions and Reviews
Very interesting. Love the G2 custom color match caliper brake kit for your auto. http://www.g2usa.com/ Will be checking this out as I would love my calipers to match my car color. Better than how they currently look. I can see for most cars if your looking to just dress up an auto, caliper covers would be a solid inexpensive way to go, but for limited production auto's or higher end performance auto's the G2 brush on paint kit looks solid. Bing it and you see many satisfied customers. For $100, not a bad way to go. -
So this Urban Dictionary was written by the drop out on the street? Even going to the link on his icon still makes it confusing. And they wonder why America cannot find enough workers who can fill the openings in the technology/science/engineering fields. That web site is as bad as the terrible Ipad Air commercial that I had to watch over and over during the football games yesterday.

Do Coupe owners really drive around that many rear seat passengers? I suspect less than 10% of coupe owners have peeps in the back seat that often and if they do, they probably have a 4 door sedan to take everyone. It is so rare to have actual adults in the back seat.

S600 Maybach might not blow up many skirts here, but compared to being a Grosser which sounds like a kids cartoon with vomit type jokes or Pullman which tends to make me think of trains, I think it is a better marketing potential than either of the other two. I still think that while there is potential for a stretched version of the S600 with ultimate interior, I am not sold on Maybach being the right top of the line package name.
