While I will hold in reserve my judgement about all these new Turbo 4 bangers and if they will last a long time or not, I will say that this is a very sexy kitty!- 9 replies

Geneva Motor Show: Audi TT Take Three: Comments

I agree Blackviper that the driver should have ease of access to all controls, but having no access to the front passenger I think is a mistake also. -
Are we sure this is the replacement for the Patriot / Compass? I tried to search for over all size and interior size to compare but did not find anything on the renegade site nor in searching.

The GLOBAL Economy is making it a blurred line of where your auto is built. The bigger question is does the company have what you like and are looking for? Then are you wanting to support local companies or out of country companies. I personally have never fit into non US built auto's but then at 6'6" tall, who to say that I might not fit in this little bugger if the interior is done right. Wait and see. In regards to WWII, with a long line of military on both sides, we freed the people in Italy from their Fascist regime. They have no desire to go back to it and it should not dictate if you would buy from them or not. QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY should matter and Local Support of Jobs.

I am diggin the JEEP, but LOVE this GMC, I agree, someone needs to have balls and build this but with a proper ground clearnce like the Hummer H3 had. That would rock! I do love the Renegade with it's classic Brick Look. This throws back more to the classic Cherokee than the current new version. Course nothing like the old traditional Jeep Renegades of past.

Exterior - Nice Evolutionary Interior - FAILURE Why a failure?, they have taken most basic items that allow even the passenger to interact with, AKA Music/stereo and put it only in the drivers control. With today's distractions from cell phones, eating, drinking, etc. Now they want to only have the driver with the control of the system, I do not see this being a success. Only dictator like drivers will love this full control of everything. I do not expect this to be a success and foresee Audi having to do a 1yr rebuild of the interior dash. This is no different than Honda's failure with the civic causing a rush to redo it after one year. -

Industry News: Apple Unveils CarPlay Integration
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
I thought GM with the 2015 models was moving to the Android based Navigation / Entertainment systems in Auto's dumping their own system. -
I find the engines interesting as posted by CNET "Rumors point to two available power trains when the Renegade reaches North America: the 1.4L turbocharged engine from the Dodge Dart mated to a six-speed manual transmission and good for 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque and the 2.4L MultiAir Tigershark engine and nine-speed automatic combo from the Jeep Cherokee, good for 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. We won't have long to wait for clarification and confirmation. The 2015 Jeep Renegade will make its official debut tomorrow at the 2014 Geneva auto show alongside the new 2.0-liter turbodiesel version of the Jeep Cherokee." So answer me this, why bother with the 2.4 when you have superior Torque in the 1.4L Turbo? Yea it is turbo'd but everyone says these torque curves are flat so why would you go with the other engine that has less Torque but more Horsepower?

Interesting, sent the pics off to some woman I know that love Jeeps and small CUV's to see what they think about it, will post their responses once I hear back.

WOW That is one bad ass ride. The Tuner crowd would eat this up if they bring it here. This SHOULD BE Chevy Compact SS. Add an AWD option and you really have one sick ride. CHEVY CRUZE SS That is what this should be!

Tesla wants have a self driving car built in 3 years
G. David Felt replied to J Reinhardt's topic in Tesla
So EV.com has a story by Ken Green Burridge posted on Feb 27th 2014 that Rinspeed has a self driving prototype of the Tesla they include pictures. Very interesting. I can see those that do not want to drive having something like this to take them to work and home every day. http://ev.com/self-driving-tesla-concept-car/ Also when I stopped at the mall last night in Bellevue, I snapped these pictures of the free Tesla Charging station. -
I agree SAmadei, today many drivers are paying more attention to their smart phone than to their driving. Loss of life is always sad and regretful, but I wonder how many of the 6 deaths involved the driver not really paying attention to their driving due to being distracted with other things and when the slip happened they just let it go. Each and every human behind the wheel has an obligation to their driving and the people around them.

So these are available in Gas, Diesel or Hybrid form. According to Honda, the 1.5-liter turbo provides 15 percent better fuel economy and 45 percent better torque and will be used to replace the 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine. Currently this gas engine and hybrid is planned for the US. Japan also has a diesel for this CUV but no decision if it will cross the pond to the US. Currently the Vezel's and Fit's are in a major recall in Japan where the mgmt software for the 7 speed dual clutch transmission needs to be reflashed due to a glich that could cause the auto not pause during shifts or to just shut down and not move the auto. All Fit and Vezel's are going back to the garage to get new software.

Time to drop in a nice Crate motor.

You mean take care of the problem that they first became apparently aware of 10 years ago? Yes, I think mgmt will take care of this properly. I have to believe that the new mgmt realizes that they cannot run GM like the old GM and survive in todays 21st century market place.

Nice JAB at the Olympic Reporting! Over all if this is what is replacing the butt fugly FIT, mucho better. Yes the nose needs some work as it look like someone punched it, but better than that Godzilla concept picture above. The Honda Crowd will eat it up and sell a ton.

The squishy folks of today that have no muscles at all probably think it locks up when it slips out of run due to the increased resistance. Just think how bad it would be if it was truly manual steering of the 70's or older auto's! Men and Woman of those days had to have some arm muscles to drive a car.
