  1. Yeah, looking at GMTruckGuys picks, the light silver color kind of washes out the details of the trucks so I'd still prefer to see a loaded GMC and Silvy in black or charcoal before passing true judgement. In my pics the Chevy looks like a stunner and the GMC looks a little washed out, but in his pics it's backwards. GM appears to be playing coy with Ford and Dodge by not revealing HP, Torque and Mileage numbers as well as really revealing the extent of the interiors until it launches. I saw one interior picture of the GMC that had a much more expressive interior layout with reds in the plastics (on an autoblog, dont remember which). It's pretty smart on their part even though it's unfortunate for us not know all of the information just yet. I still believe there's a lot they aren't telling us from a trim and performance standpoint.
  2. Just got back from the Houston Auto Show and lo and behold, the new trucks were there! The downside, like GMTruck guy in his pics, was that they weren't allowing you to go in the trucks. The Silverado was on a stationary platform while the Sierra was on a spinning platform. Also at the Houston Auto Show, the Sierra came with a full fledged pamphlet which they stored inside the truck while the Silverado had a smaller foldout brochure. Now onto the impression... ...I feel like the Silverado was definitely the looker of the two. You can't tell it from the photos (as is usually the case) but the thing has a very bold and striking front end. It just looks...bigger....in person. Very solid. The interior was nice, I really wanted to touch the plastics they used but the woman wouldn't let me. I sat in a loaded Long Horn Ram and can definitely appreciate these interiors more. These are definitely more...less cheesy. Lol. I'm pretty excited to see what they do with the Sierra Denali and the Silverado High Country. I also want to sit in one but sucks knowing that I need a 2500HD and not sure when those will be made available (esp with High Country or Denali trim). I'm definitely leaning Silverado though.
  3. After seeing the Ford Atlas concept...even more disappointed with what GM did with these. I look at that thing compared to the 2014 Silverado and it makes the Silverado look like it's a 99 Model. I've owned a GM truck my whole driving life (96 Sierra, 2007 Avalanche, 2009 Sierra) and never once considered a different make. I'm not sure I can support and reward such a careless approach to the design progression of these trucks. Going to the Houston Auto Show next week and hopefully they will both be there. I'll take some live pictures if they are and report back.
  4. This car is perfect. Absolutely perfect. After seeing GM do a simple "Evolution" with the trucks in December they've moved the Corvette, successfully IMO, into the future with this design. I love the rear's design language and that the whole car is one sculpted piece of automotive art. Unlike the Viper, which looks frumpy and oddly put together, this thing flows. Home run.
  5. Curious to see the HD versions. Any idea when those will show? Detroit maybe?
  6. As an owner of a 2009 GMC Sierra, it's sad to know it took me a bit to see if I was looking at the outgoing model or the new model from this pic. To say the public won't be able to tell much of a difference is an understatement at best. Holding out hope that the interior is leaps and bounds ahead in terms of build quality and materials, that the powertrain is an 8 speed, and that the mileage is in the 22-23 range. If GM believes that there is no replacement for displacement than here's to hoping that they are able to outgun Ford and Dodge in HP and Torque numbers by a mile (like they did when Cadillac came out with guns blazing on the V-6 pumping 300+ horses).
  7. I'm a bit disappointed with the interior. The exterior seems fine, there's only so much you can do with truck exteriors. I feel like Ford is leaving GM behind because they are being much more adventurous and expressive in their designs. GM seems to be playing it safe, I was hoping for some aggressive styling inside and out. Where was the GM that hit us with the Camaro or CTS? The interior looks so...blah compared to F-150 and Ram's interior. Cold and sterile.
  8. Looks great. Absolutely great. I do wish that GM had not Camaroed this by releasing every bit of info on the car 2 years before it's set to make it's debut, gives other manufacturers the opportunity to pounce on the idea as well. Well, GM's aggressive design direction is miles ahead of Toyota's bloated bumblebee styling and Honda's robot-esque looks. Love the car. My commute is 15 miles one way, 15 miles back. I wouldn't use any gas...ever save for road trips. Now...what's the price gonna be?
  9. I despise Toyota for various reasons. 1. Media- Kisses their ass beyond belief. They have quality problems, and I have to come here to see it, or I hear from someone in the car biz because MSN or Yahoo or whoever will not dare report it. If it was GM on the other hand...it's front page news. 2. Default- They are the default company. People think that if you need a car, you get a Toyota because there's less problems with them. Just wondering when this stereotype will go away. 3. Design- Tundra. Camry. Yaris. And the entire Lexus lineup, though the LS460 isn't a bad looking car. 4. Scion- We're hip and we're Toyota! It's win/win! xD
  10. Seeing as GM has given the obvious green light to the CTS Coupe, what are the chances that this thing becomes a convertible? A retractable hard-top would definitely put it on the list of people looking at Benz CLK's and even SL500's or SC430's. But I do think a retractable hardtop Caddy CTS would render the current XLR osbolete both from a design and price standpoint. Anyway, I do think that if GM really wants to send BMW, Lexus, Audi, and Mercedes back to the drawing boards, they need to cover as many bases as they can with this car, and a retractable hardtop would do just that. CTC, CTC-V, CTC-D(iesel), CTC-H (Hybrid), CTC-R (Roadster Convertible). Here's a Photoshop I did of what the convertible might look like. What do you guys think?
  11. That car is absolute sex on wheels. I think it looks even more stunning in the vids of it I've seen on Youtube. Granted, I don't care for the drab gray color, but here's something I photoshopped right quick. A color scheme to my tastes :-P I'll take one.
  12. Look I love that Chevy was able to milk the Motor Trend truck of the Year award for a year. But let's be fair....why the hell should they even have this award? A new truck gets unveiled every year, so by default, *that* truck will win Truck of the Year. The reason that Toyota delayed release of the Tundra was because they knew that if it went head to head against the Silverado, it would lose. No fault of theres, the Silverado is just a better truck from stylistic and optional standpoint. Two interiors, more engine choices, plus a much bigger impact on the market. So they delayed it's release a little bit so that this would not happen, because the last thing Toyota was going to risk was it's Tundra losing outright to the Silverado (which it would have). But I digress, this award may as well be called "The Motor Trend Newest Truck Released This Year" award because essentially, that's all it is.
  13. F.O.G...my sentiments exactly. I'm driving an 07 Avalanche right now, and I fully expect my next vehicle to be an H2 for the reasons you listed above. Why isn't the Ram SRT-10 being called out? Range Rover Sport? Toyota Sequoia? H2 is so iconic that its so easy to call it out as the symbol behind gas guzzlers. I honestly wonder if Toyota had made the H2, would it be under as much scrutiny as it is under GM? Either way, I can't wait to get my H2.
  14. Toyota has to deal with the Ford Superduty in addition to the HD trucks from GM. It doesn't have smooth sailing ahead.
  15. Somewhere Motor Trend is already writing theyre MegaCab vs Crewmax comparison....this looks like the Ridgeline's big brother by the way. Are Japanese designers really that inept of getting truck proportions correctly?
