Since 2007, Toyota has held the title of being the world's largest automaker. However, quality problems would cause sales to drop during 2009 and 2010. Toyota would blame the rapid growth they experienced over the past few years. Then the earthquake hit Japan in March, crippling production of vehicles and causing Toyota lose they No.1 position. Currently, Toyota predicts their global sales for the fiscal year will stand at 7.24 million, a drop of 1%.

Toyota doesn't seem to mind losing the No.1 spot at all.

"There is no meaning in us being the global No. 1," said Toyota's Executive Vice President, Satoshi Ozawa.

Ozawa said that quality and ustomer satisfaction is more imporant than vehicles sold.
